Removing a PUP. What to watch out for?

My knowledge on this only goes so far, and I don't particularly trust many google searches on the matter.

The girlfriend decided it'd be smart to find a 'free version' of MS Office, and ended up with a PUP known as Omiga Plus on her laptop.

Anyone ever come across this before? I've removed all trace I can find from Chrome and IE as well as registry files and obviously uninstalled the program itself. Is there anything else I should watch out for or something I'm missing? I'm aware these sort of things find a way into a lot of different areas without any notice, so any help would be appreciated.

    use Microsoft Safety Scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/sc...s/default.aspx
    also MalwareBytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/

    then install either OpenOffice.org - https://www.openoffice.org/ - or LibreOffice - http://www.libreoffice.org/

The boll0cks decided to dig very deep into the laptop, so despite around two hours of constantly finding the pup and removing it, I just decided to go with a system restore. Wish I had just thought of it earlier to be honest.

Not sure if a system restore will completely remove it but in any case you should download and install this program:
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Just press Scan and when it completes, just click CLEAN.

If it turns up again I'll give that a go, but so far so good with the system restore.

A system restore is always the best option and it'll get anything bar a boot virus, which is rare these days; but I'd still be running a scan after the install, just in case. I recommend running at least 2 and ideally 3 different scanners, as they all miss different things -- you don't need to install anything, just google "online virus scan" and pick the names you recognise from the first page. Use IE, and uninstall the plugins they install afterwards.

PUP was a new one on me. I'm so old.

I'm just mystified as to why the Progressive Unionist Party have moved into malware in the first place. Hardly likely to propel them to political success.

3 days later and nothing has shown up, so think the restore has sorted it. Thanks for all the help.
