I think the point some are saying is pull the plug and come back in the first division the following season in the markets field rather than throw money down the drain at a team that will most likely be the whipping boys of the league and could leave us in financial trouble.

Personally I just want to see some transparency. We still don't know where we will be playing? who is currently running the club? what kind of crowds have we actually budgeted for? what state financially are we in? What happens to season ticket holders? So on and so forth.

Limerick have come a long way in a relatively short space of time. The ground is on the way even if it's late. There seems to be good youth and community setups and you're in the premier. Even if you lose a lot during the season, it's worth remembering that not long ago you barely could field a full bench. It may look like oblivion is beckoning, but in the LOI oblivion is forever lurking in the bushes making rude gestures behind your back.

Exactly - the situation is certainly better I would have thought then it was 7 or 8 years ago when they were just mid-table Division 1 for a few seasons in a row

As I say it is the opinion of some not everyone. The main problem I can see for the next few months at least is where will the money come from to support the team? If we end up playing outside of Limerick there will be very few at games, 50-60 max I would imagine. If it's in limerick somewhere then we with the bad vibes around and relatively inexperienced squad we probably will be lucky to have 300-500 regulars.

There is nothing to say we can't scrape a few results together and somehow stay up. It will be tough but we have a good manager, a few decent loi players and some youth. We are thread bare and that could be ultimately what costs us.

A lad arrived from the state's yesterday and also trained yesterday and he'll play in the game tonight against Longford I'd imagine.

Said it in his thread but he's just suffered a serious knee injury. No chance he'll be available until late summer.

Logic would dictate it'll be a Dublin club he joins, or at the least one within the pale, seeing as that's where he plans to live... I'm sure he'd like to give Europe a go, those clubs would also have the budget to bring him in, so either one of Dundalk, pats or Shams makes the only options for him really.

Lord knows where you'd play him these days thou, the pace is long gone, and he's an auld man, so might not be up to much when he's back fit.

Both Rovers and Dundalk need another forward, would he do a job playing between midfield and lone striker?

That's what I'd bet on for what it's worth..

Limerick as backup for Turner to round off that squad.

Shall we rule out dundalk so? Hate mentioning it but he probably won't want to play on the astro with that

The 100 mile round trip for training would probably be the deal breaker.

Might join up with Pat Devlin at UCD perhaps? I'm sure they could find some sort of coaching gig for him in the college somewhere. Though he may feel he can still play at a bigger club for a while.

You'd have to imagine it'll be either one of Shamrock Rovers, St Pat's or possibly Bray.

I'd say Bray is out of the question now that Devlin is gone. I'd say it's between Pats and Rovers.
    Here on a technicality.

He's presumably not going to have a big wage demand, so if he's interested in going down the coaching road, that would seem the best option. A Premier team could be sold as more craic to him though.
Have you ever won the treble?

If he's got anything left it will probably be Rovers.

We've been looking for a "marquee signing" since Gillespie retired. Everyone knows we're great craic too. Once we get our crisps and minerals.

St Pats about to announce a new signing later tonight.

Cue a new official men's grooming partner.
