Seemingly nothing in the Liam Miller to Cork rumour after all.

This was a rumour that started on our forum, spread mysteriously to the local Echo and to the nationals from there.

wasn't even a rumour, was speculation on the forum based on the fact that he was available and from Cork. Lazy journalism then on top of that.

There are some seriously lazy journalists giving good ones a bad name and that is across all boards. Have seen it with Limerick where a few Limerick fans made up rumours about a possible manager and it got national press. It's happening over on munsterfans.com as well where fans are chatting about possible situations going on and the papers are then printing it as fact. You then have all these online sites that post articles about what people are tweeting.

Dylan Connolly going to Ipswich from Shels according to today's Star. They offered him a deal in July apparently but Shels wanted to keep him for the rest of the season apparently. He's out of contract so it'll just be compensation. Cracking player.
Upwards to the vanguard where the pressure is too high.

Ipswich got the square root of **** all for Adam McDonnell from Ipswich, so fair play to them for telling them to get the **** on Connolly. I wouldn't be too confident about them paying compensation for Connolly - most English clubs won't unless brought to court.

    WTF?

If compensation is clearly established under UEFA regulations, English clubs have no option but pay up. It does not need a law court to enforce it - the FA under a UEFA directive is the enforcing body

Plenty of them don't believe the rules apply to them. See: Newcastle with Stephen Folan, Manchester City with Greg Cunningham. Both eventually resolved through the courts. I would wager plenty of them just disappear as the club can't afford to pursue the case.

Woah, dodgy ground here- according to my understanding, Man City did pay for Cunningham but not necessarily all to the correct club. They may have got it wrong but may have been misinformed by people on this side of the water.

In cases like that it should just be a matter of bringing it to the attention of UEFA. Once you have the relevant documentation to prove a player is of the right age and you are due compensation it should be a no brainer. They are clamping down on fair play wih wages, it should be the same with compensation.

City did a deal with Mervue for less than their training compensation would have cost, but left Claregalway out of it completely. They paid money alright, but it was more or less to prevent any sort of formal claim and was far less than they were required to pay.

I'm open to correction, but as far as I know the buying club (City) pay all monies owed to the selling club (Mervue), and it is then up to the selling club to pass on any compo owed to other clubs (in this case, Cregmore/Claregalway FC). So if Cregmore were waiting for money, it was from Mervue, not City.

The issue was that City didn't pay all moneys owed. They negotiated a lesser fee with Mervue.

Rovers are monitoring Derek Riordan, who was at Hibs shortly before Fenlon took over. His career has taken a bit of a nosedive since but he was a decent player in his day.

We were linked to him when Taylor fisrt came. Pretty sure there was an article at the time about how he would do anything to get back playing football, even play for free.

This article says 2014 but it was definitely when Taylor first got here.

Got himself in a bit of trouble too and a few spells in clubs after Hibs also.

Any else hear that Roddy might be taking over in Drogheda. The club can't agree a budget with Richardson.

This can't be true. Surely no more clubs in the league will entertain the Roddy circus?

Haven't heard of him since, but would be a great move over if only for the pronunciation of his name, in Scotland it was 'Rye-aaar-don', here it would have to be Reearr-don'
