    Cobh

Wexford showed really good spirit to recover from a horror first half and gain a share of the points with a goal in the last minute in an absorbing march in Cobh tonight. Youths started with Graham, Criag Short, Gary,Lasty, Killian, Eric, Duxey, Peter, Andy and with Deano and Danny up front. First few minutes had little of note and then Cobh scored with their first attack of the match when a good cross from the left was partially cleared by Lasty but the ball fell to the incoming Cobh midfielder who smacked it past Graham for 1-0. With ten gone, Duxey got a yellow for a tackle. Despite their league position, Cobh have always seemed decent going forward and they almost proved it after 17 minutes, when Graham had to knock away a decent Cobh effort down their right for a corner. Then, on 20 minutes, Kynan Rocks was allowed turn and run at the Wexford defence which he managed like a knife through butter and he was able to fnish with ease past Graham who wasn't happy with his defenders for 2-0. During all this, Wexford were hardly able to string an attack together with too many long balls being hit without success at either Deano, Danny or Andy. On 35 minutes, Duxey managed Wexford's first shot on target but it was easily collected by Hallahan in the Cobh goal. A Cobh defender than picked up a yellow for a high foot and Wexford's first decent passing move occurred with five to go, when Andy was sent free down the left and his low cross found Deano at the near post whose effort was pushed away by Hallahan for a corner. Wexford's crossing from general play and from corners was poor during this half also and they seemed to have a long way back at 2-0 to the home side at half-time.

To their credit, Wexford upped the tempo big time at the start of the second and realised that the ball had to be moved a lot quicker with shorter passes. On two minutes, Andy had a run and a shot but it went wide. With five gone, Eric had a shot on target but Hallahan knocked it away with his legs. Then on ten minutes, Andy found Eric in space just outside the Cobh area and his turn and shot left Hallahan stranded for the Wexford goal the game needed for 2-1. Graham then made a good save from the useful Goldsmith after a decent Cobh break to keep the score at 2-1. With 20 gone, Danny hit the post with Hallahan beaten and the ball rebounded up in the air to Lasty who headed it just wide with little time to react. Cobh then picked up a yellow for a deliberate handball. With 15 to go, Graham made an unbelievable acrobatic save to keep a Cobh attacker from scoring while close-in. With ten to go, Ben came on for Andy and later, Craig Wall came on for Shorty. With four minutes of injury time called, Wexford had one last attack and the ball was clearly headed on by a Wexford player and Deano tried his hardest to keep it from going out of touch but didn;t manage it. The lineswoman wrongly gave the throw Wexford's way and it was chucked into the box where it broke to Eric who managed to stab it home for his second to bring the game to 2-2. Match lasted another 30 seconds before it was blown up at 2-2. Best for Wexford were probably Duxey, Eric and Danny with Graham keeping Wexford in the game with a couple of decent saves.

However, with Wexford's Rocks on his honeymoon, Wexford are having a problem finding another player to go alongside Danny and Shane Keegan will have to think hard about the formation used against Harps last week and in the first period tonight. Certainly, Wexford improved greatly when Deano went wide left where he looks most comfortable and maybe Andy could be switched either to play behind Danny or to come in off the opposite wing. 2-2 at full-time.
