IMNDA have now received somewhere around 400K over the past week thanks to this. A lot of the whining comments on this thread would sicken ya. The awareness raising is as important as the money. hopefully a lot more people will understand what a pig of a disease MND is after this latest social media craze. And hopefully the money raised will get research towards a cure a few steps further.

Whilst I think raising awareness and funds(over €900,000 last I heard) for The Motor Nuerones Association it great,I'd say less then 30% of the video I have seen have mentioned the cause or donation number. Whilst I'd imagine the vast majority are donating I have had to inform one or two about it and I'm unsure how you create awareness of something by not mentioning it.

I also believe that for a a lot of the people doing it it become as much about they did is so I have to & One-upmanship than the cause

So? stop worrying about some people showing off. The bigger picture here is that a huge amount of good work has been done and a huge amount of funds have been raised. If a by-product of that is people's facebook timelines are nothing but people dumoping water on themselves, then it's a pretty small sacrifice to make

All that matters at the end of the day is how much money has been raised. If awareness has been raised, I suppose that's good, but not in any really useful way, unless a greater awarness of the issue will lead to more donations (as opposed to just donating and not knowing what it's all about, but hey, everybody else is doing it on facebook).

And it seems like it's raised multiple millions around the world, so great.

Think I made it public there.. Possibly NSFW language in there but nothing mad.
Re Neish's post, I just put all the info in text after posting the video, to save having to ramble on and make a long boring video. Think I may have had a minor stroke about 13 seconds in..

I do admit beginning to get a bit sick of seeing the videos now thou.

Not complaining(well not complaining much) and I see it was just posted on the Irish Times website that the €1 million mark has been passed which I think is great.

It just is a pet peeve of mine that people seem to need a gimmick to donate to good causes(and I'm not saying everyone that has done the IBC does). I got nominated today a couple of txts but just don't see who benefits from me dumping a load of water over myself when I am aware of all the people in the world that have to walk miles to get to a fresh water sources, or worse still have to survive with unclean water

A little galling to see members of the government doing it considering all the cuts to charities, etc

I saw videos on Facebook of a few lads I know doing the challenge, claiming to have donated or that they will donate. The same ****s that would run away after football to dodge €2 every week. Give me a break...

Anyone else see the latest awareness raising/social media points scoring challenge? It's called The Feeling Nuts Challenge.

Cue loads of lads holding thin air around the middle of their thighs to try and make their package look bigger.
