    Longford

Deserved win for the away side in Ferrycarrig tonight with the main regret by Wexford being the soft nature of the two goals they conceded. However, Graham made a number of excellent saves so the home side won't have too many complaints. Wexford made a number of changes from last week and went with Graham, Craig, Lasty, Ryan, Jimmy, Ben, Peter, Shane Dunne, Eric and with Deano and Danny up front. Both sides started at a lively pace but with Longford looking more threatening. On five minutes, a good cross from Longford saw an effort headed wide. Longford generally continued to press especially with Cowan's pace down the right and then on 25 minutes a ball was crossed into the Youth's box from the left and Ryan facing the wrong way and trying to play it with his less-favoured right foot, could only manage to slice it into his own net for 1-0 to Longford. On the half hour, Shaw was through on goal for Longford but Graham managed to pull off a an acrobatic save with his legs to keep the score at 1-0. Two minutes later, Graham pulled off another diving save to keep a headed effort out. Just when Wexford looked as if they would only go in one down at half-time, they gave the ball away in their own half and Sullivan set up Shaw who gave Graham no chance for 2-0 at half-time. During this half, Longford's only vulnerability seemed to be in the air at the back where they're not the tallest, but nothing resulted from any of Wexford's many flick-ons during this half. 2-0 to Longford at half-time.

Second half saw Youths bring on Craig Wall for Ben at half-time and immediately Danny picked up a yellow for dissent for protesting after not getting a free he seemed to deserve. Sullivan then had a volley over the bar for LOngford and Graham also got a yellow for dissent. With ten gone, Jimmy limped off after a tackle and was replaced by new signing Andy Mulligan (ex Bohs) who went left wing with Ryan moving to left full and Shane to centre half. On the hour mark, Graham pulled off a super save to keep out a point-blank header from a Longford corner. Shane Dunne then got a yellow for a block on Cowan who was substituted shortly afterwards. With thirteen to go, Shane Nolan came on for Ryan. Longford then had a two on the last Wexford defender but couldn't convert. To their credit, Wexford tried hard in the last ten to get at least a goal back but the nearest they got was a shot from Deano which Bennion saved and a volley from Danny which went over. Match then finished on a 2-0 scoreline for Longford.

Best for Wexford were Graham in goal, Lasty and Peter and Shane Dunne in midfield. Wexford probably missed Rocks as a target where he might have dominated in the air where Longford do look vulnerable at the back. In contrast, Longford had a much greater goal threat from the trio of Shaw, Sully and Cowan. Crowd was announced as 319. Could't understand why Daragh Walshe was suspended as he hasn't had much game time recently but apparently he was sent off on the word of a fourth official (from Wexford - easy to guess) for having a p1ss in the vicinity of the pitch. Apparently, it's two games for a p1ss and four for a crap! 2-0 to Longford at full-time. Should mention also Mulligan who looked handy for Wexford when he came on.
