In todays Drogheda Independent chairman Jim Agnew denies there is any transfer embargo in place, yet Rico claims there is.
Why the journo didn't ring up the FAI to find out one way or another God knows.
It appears that there actually is a transfer embargo in place with us and Bray, and it has something to do with unpaid fines.
Maybe the chairman is still waiting for your White Knight to smooth the way for Rico?

Drogs don't really need to make signings anyway.. they have a good enough squad to stay up comfortably, which they will do. Next season sure, but what can they do this year apart from maybe have a crack at the cup?!

Bray on the other hand could be in trouble.

Chairman has it in for Rico. Four days later and he is hatching another devious plan to discredit the manager and force his removal*.

    *extreme sarcasm.

Interesting interview with Pete Mahon on LMFM at the weekend.

He lets loose at the FAI and their management of the league and supports the recently punished comments by Roddy Collins.

"I know for a fact that there are five people at Drogheda, four players and one coach who are owed money from last season. So I want to know how licences are given out."

That's Fenlon, Kenny and Cooke who have spoken out now. Brilliant

I remember Roddy speaking up for Mahon a few years ago after Paul Doolin had a go at Pete. Roddy was right then also.

Pete took over from Doolin at UCD. Doolin left the club in ****e; Mahon called him up on it. Doolin went mad. Twas around the time we got relegated (which Doolin denied was his fault, even though he left us about ten points adrift)

My favourite moment from that time was Tony McDonnell reckoning an article I'd written for STIG, our fanzine, when Drogheda visited in a Cup game stirred things up and re-ignited the row.

That's great but what about the rest of the managers. Are they afraid to speak or are they happy the way the League is run ?

That's why he's gone back to the civil service. He'll be in good company there.
I'm surprised it took him this long to realize he wasn't much good at the football

He certainly took his time and lots of money and literally broke Drogheda seeking that one title. So he isnt involved in the Ireland underage set up anymore?

You are on a roll Nesta.

Nasty Doolin broke Drogheda? Not the board who gave him the unsustainable budget?

On a day off so little else to do but a bit of stirring. Of course it was the board who set the unsustainable budget based on speculation of land sale (watch out Bray) but imo he took longer than he should have to land silverware on the level of budget credit at his disposal. The redeeming element for him at that time were some excellent European perfromances...if only he had Graham Gartland practising penalties..

Clearly afraid to speak, Extratime.ie even claim a manager recently refused to speak to them for fear of not being able to fully express his views with reprimand
