I knew the record was bad but that's really abysmal. You can't help but place blame on the playing squad too though. Both men relied on the same core of players and they have let them down in a big way. I think it's obvious that they're just not up to it.

Completely agree. Both managers backed a core group of players who just are not good enough.

Sad to see a man lose his job but it had to happen really. It seemed a very odd appointment from the off, and the opening day win probably went a long way to papering over the cracks when they began to appear.

All in your spare time. Its not power, its a poisoned chalice! :-)

Also go back to my point above. The people with the power are the members who vote in the directors. Of note, you dont even have to be a member to nominate yourself onto the board of management. And the current board members have openly asked for more volunteers a million times. Nobody seems motivated enough. So anyone with your opinion Ciaraa should simply step forward and get involved in the pot-washing!
Every small to mid sized sports / recreation club in Ireland has those issues and challenges you constantly refer to. Maybe its time to wonder why "Nobody seems motivated enough"

Nope it was a forced act of protection of the club.

Ciara people aren't motivated enough because they know the effort involved and don't fancy it. Myself included.

Awful news. I always thought Robbie was an innovator.
Fingers crossed Sean McCaffrey gets the role.

The whole fault of Drogheda's predicament is the Drogheda board of management. How they let a man go who got you to 3 cup finals in a season and still be let go is baffling.
Mini mourinho churned out some stats but they don't tell the full story. Why not compare those stats to Alan Matthews tenure.

I hear you regarding live football ... Can't beat it IMO.

Heck when I'm working in the uk I go to port vale games lol

Did you live in Drogheda in the 70's as it was a long enough trip before the motorway and smaller cars to travel on a regular basis to Drogheda (or maybe it wasn't and I'm now just spoilt with the motorway 😀

    Cooke & Horgan - 12 wins from 50
    Matthews - 8 wins from 50

This is really bad news. I hoped they'd hold on to hime until The BitoRed got the three points there.

I lived in mid-Louth for most of the seventies but moved to Drogheda later on for a few years. Drogheda had some great players back then. Mick Fairclough was my favourite when I first started watching them (a mid Louth lad too). Me and my Dad would go to Oriel Park one Sunday and the Lourdes Stadium the next week. Quite a few people did. I also remember a special bus from Drogheda that used to run when Dundalk were playing big European matches. No one thought anything about it. The tribal crap didn't exist back then.

I'm a Drogs fan and don't have any animosity to Dundalk whatsoever. I'm just not motivated to do that. If I see someone wearing a Dundalk shirt, I just think 'Great, there's another League of Ireland fan.'

Pat Scully for Drogheda? Even if they don't stay up he knows his way around the first division too.
The ball is round and has many surprises.

Have they recently invested in serious hip surgery?

Ha - brilliant, will you give you that one.

Also agree on Horgan, seemed such a nice guy who cared a lot, hopelessly let down by his players this season.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), only Irish club to win a game / points in Europa League Group Stage (2016).

I believe they are hoping to get a few more years out of childhood.
