That could be it alright, they could be the sponsors or something, hadn't thought of that.

Pretty optimistic to think Rovers will bring 7000 but you never know.

Don't think they will Charlie, but members & ST holders get preference, and I've been asked by three people already if I'll sort them out tickets, so you'll find that Rovers end is actually mixed

I don't get it really, can they not just buy general admission tickets?

Tempted to take a trip down, borrow a half Man Utd- half Bohs shirt for the day. Just to confuse everyone.

People won't trust ticketmaster ahead of their mates. I've had people ask me about getting tickets as "you're into the LOI aren't you?"

People won't trust trust cocaine frenzied schizophrenic knife wielding chimpanzees with post traumatic stress disorder ahead of ticket master, never mind their mates.

I think this needs to be answered by FAI

What's the Rovers fans' view on this (in general) btw? Cynical or looking forward to it?

This should cover the cost of the Rovers B Team for this year at least. Louis Kilcoyne when he was in charge at Milltown was great at organising prestige friendlies, so in a way this is going back to the olden days, especially if Liverpool manage to win the English league Championship (highly unlikely however). I remember being at the first soccer game at Lansdowne Road Nua, and when I gave a small shout of encouragement to one of the LoI players playing against Man U, a number of people around me gave me a strange look. It was a very enjoyable night and if I was living in Dublin I would certainly go, if the evening is fine. A regret I have is that I did not go to the Europa League final at Lansdowne; was in Dublin that day and I think there was tickets available? The Queen of England was there the same time, could this be one of the reasons the Europa L final in Dublin didn't sell out?

As a Pats supporter, i don't feel one bit aggrieved that we've been "overlooked". Sure, I probably would go if Pats were involved, but I certainly don't feel like I'm missing out. Much more interested in our league games than a "glamour" friendly.
Out for a spell, got neglected, lay on the bench unselected.

I don't see why they'd feel any more aggrieved than all 12 Premier Division teams were when Barcelona and Manchester City agreed to play Limerick. Limerick had the initiative to go out and look for opportunities and had the advantage of a nice stadium in their city to play the game in. Rovers are no different. It's a meaningless fixture that will mean far more to the Irish Liverpool fans who never get to see their team than it will to Rovers fan, just like the City game meant far more to their Irish fans than it did Lims, who I assume were just grateful for the free money. To put it in English football terms, "this will be their cup final".

The Queen, Obama and the Europa League final were all in town on the same week.

To be fair, only one of those had what Irish people really want to see - the English.

You're missing my point though, I meant purely from a financial point of view. Rovers will make money off the game, and the FAI asked them to be involved.

I doubt too many LOI fans actually care about the game.
