Eddie Howe fears Harry Arter could miss the final game of the season after he was forced off vs Burnley because of injury [dead leg]. #AFCB

Howe also refers to "ankle" and "achilles" problems he has been nursing, so at the least I suspect he won't travel to America, but i'd expect him to be in the frame to start against Austria.

Out in night clubs in New York instead of being at home resting. It makes me sick how some of these professional footballers spend their free time.

No Christmas cards for Arter from Simon Francis this year.

Found it a bit weird when I seen that Francis story. With an average of 12 or so Intl fixtures and 30 days or so of Intl duty a year, I thought it was a given that professional footballers miss plenty of weddings.

I thought the whole point Kevin Long's story got media attention was because it was his brother's wedding, he was due to be best man and he was travelling to America with no guarantees of playing.

If someone missed a competitive game for us to go to a teammate's wedding I would be asking serious questions!

According to this, Whelan and Arter arrived at the team hotel this morning, so I don't know if they will have trained.

If Arter really wasn't bothered about playing for Ireland and has been faking injury time and time again in order to avoid both friendlies and competitive games, then he'd surely have just done that again in this instance (seeing as he's been complaining of ankle and Achilles problems as well as a dead leg in recent weeks anyway) and gone to his close friend's wedding instead of meeting up with the squad ahead of the Uruguay friendly tomorrow. The fact he is showing up for friendly international duty and missing one of his close friend's wedding in the process is surely demonstrative - to the cynical and paranoid - of his commitment.

I'm not of the view that he's a flake but missing a friend's wedding to play competitive international football would be no big deal for most people.

I agree, but this is Harry Arter we're talking about, who supposedly couldn't be bothered playing for Ireland, so he fakes injuries all the time. Or so the theory goes...

Edit: And isn't he missing the wedding for a friendly game? The wedding is today.

The tenor of the article really confuses me. Is everyone supposed to congratulate him and high five him because he missed a teammate's wedding so he could participate in a competitive football match? Kinell...

If Arter's presence at his wedding is so important he wouldn't have booked it during an International window.

    Arter on commitment concerns.

    http://www.the42.ie/harry-arter-irel...27297-Jun2017/

Kevin Palmer wrote an article that said Arter was "frustrated" after being left out of the side to play Serbia. This was after representing us four times.

He subsequently pulled out of two squads in controversial circumstances.

In light of this, and reading through the lines, it's easy to see where people might pick up concerns about his attitude.

Compare this to Stephen Quinn, who incidentally came on in his stead against Serbia, travelling to Dublin to train with the squad and continue his recuperation.

And Seamus Coleman travelling with the squad too.

It's all well and good he started today and played well but we don't need someone copping attitude if he isn't selected.

We have plenty of good midfield players - whoever is selected against Austria - our strength lies in the sum of our parts.

    Copping attitude? Seriously TOWK.
Have people not talked this thing to death already. His commitment was never in doubt except to some who had no evidence to the contrary.
He played a brilliant game in Austria and helped us to three vital points, putting us where we are today.
He shows up this weekend for a friendly, missing his mate's wedding and plays out of his skin and you say "we don't need someone copping attitude."

Based on his performance today - you think you should issue the man an apology?

I never thought he was going to declare for England, that's not what I mean when I refer to commitment.

Here's an article by Kevin Palmer on Arter from last November where Arter speaks of what had been frustrating him, if you would like to interpret Arter's words for yourself rather than rely on an unreliable, malicious and prejudicial misrepresentation: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-35208436.html

There is competition to get into the Ireland midfield and, while I have been a bit frustrated not to play in a competitive game so far, part of the reason for that is the injuries I have had around Ireland matches in the last year or so. I feel ready to make the step up now.

Some very harsh words in there. Were they not written by you? I'm having a hard time trying to understand your subsequent explanation.

Or what conclusions the bias of said people would lead them to draw

Coleman was invited to the squad by O'Neill, so pretty irrelevant.
