CHERRIES are sweating on the fitness of Harry Arter after the midfielder left Vitality Stadium on crutches.
Republic of Ireland international Arter played the full 90 minutes of today's 6-1 trouncing of Hull City in the Premier League.
However, the 26-year-old appeared to be feeling the effects of a first-half challenge by the Tigers' Robert Snodgrass.
Arter clutched his knee following the late tackle and was subsequently attended to by physio Steve Hard.

    So.... some good new there....

I think it puts to bed any malcious rumour mongers spreaders, looks like he was not 100% fit.

In all fairness Stutts, there is a difference between a professional athlete getting an injury and one of us getting an injury.

They won 6-1 too. I'm surprised he wasn't taken off when the points were in the bag in order to manage his fitness.

I think it was moronic to bring a player who obviously wasn't fit enough to contribute properly to the Euros, but it should have been up to the management team to leave him out.

He always seems to take a tackle in the first half that only affects him after the game

In the context we're talking about the only difference is that the risk of aggravating a relatively small injury is more serious for a pro. In almost every other respect it's perfectly valid to compare the two. An injury can take 3-5 days to heal. On day 1 it might be unwise to play, on day 5 it might be fine. The healing process might be quicker for a pro due to the quality of the physio treatment available. You often hear managers says stuff like "the game came just a few days too early for him".

I have no idea what the real extent of Arter's injury was but it'd surprise me if he was skiving because he had a great chance of starting in the two games. The only thing I am sure about is that in purely generic terms, a minor injury can rule a player out of a game but can be clear a week later. I think the only reason you're not accepting that is because it undermines your case against Arter.

Ah good, you're back. You have 24 hours to answer the questions on the previous page or I'll ban you for a week.

Harry Arter will force his way into the Republic of Ireland's starting line-up if he sustains his early-season Premier League form, according to Eddie Howe.
Bournemouth boss Howe hailed midfielder Arter's all-action showing that underpinned the Cherries' 6-1 hammering of Hull, then tipped the 26-year-old for further Ireland honours

"I think the players' performance will dictate what happens on that side," said Howe of Arter's international chances.
