I assume it is cause Rovers was formed by the amalgamation of junior teams called Sligo Town and Sligo Blues. There is a team called Sligo Rovers playing in Sligo back as far as 1908, but 1928 was the year these two teams came together.

That's cool, had never seen that picture before.
Just remember growing up and Sligo wearing plain red. Then, when they introduced the stripes, it was a really impressive kit. Most LOI kits back then were fairly basic, it must be said.

I can understand Sligo Rovers going back to the stripes. But it's virtually the same as Derry City's, black collar aside. Pure laziness from Umbro.....

There aren't really that many ways you can do red and white stripes. Unless you start putting little pictures of cats in between or something.

If I've learned anything from the internet, it's that people love cats.

Which LOI team would be most likely to end up with something like that? Youths I assume.

    Pats new away jersey.
Not a great picture its fairly plain and simple but It's not too bad, no idea what colour shorts and socks but I'd guess navy.

We were actually originally claret & blue, but Sheffield Utds manager came over and took over us and changed our colours to red & white stripes.

Isn't that just an inverted Shels jersey circa 2000-2002?

Billy Gillespie he was, from Kerrykeel, so not quite sure "came over", as if he was an outsider to Ireland, gives the correct impression.

It's almost the same as a navy shirt of that era that we had. Similar the way that the current national away is siilar to an away shirt we had at that time and the home is like the home from around that time as well.

Its the exact same style as our home kit. Inverse of that so...

Navy is seen now as the "traditional" away colour by most Pats fans so most seem happy enough with it

I'd have preferred something a bit more striking

What price will the new shirts be? Reason I ask is, Nike are usually the most expensive of all the brands, and this can effect sales with some clubs. For comparison the new Black Dundalk away top is €50 I think.
#DundalkFC - First Irish club to win an away game in Europe (1963), first Irish club to win points in a group stage in Europe (2016).

Well it is teamwear; I wouldn't anticipate them going of point and having something more than 50quid.

Dundalk jersey is €55 for adults, €45 for children
