Westwood's gaff at around 2.11. Love the reaction of the "Brentford ??" steward behind the goal when Wednesday score at around 5.00.

Potential automatic promotion clash between Newcastle and Norwich (Hoolahan on the bench) last night and Norwich leading 2-3 going in to the 95th minute.... and Norwich lose 4-3. Wouldn't like to be waking up as a Norwich fan this morning. I still expect both teams to be in the automatic play off positions come the end of the season but happy that Newcastle not dominating the league like they did last time they were relegated...yet.

I was slightly annoyed watching the scores filter through on my phone, Norwich were even 3-1 up at one stage. They basically went from being seven points clear of Newcastle to only one point clear in the blink of an eye. Brady won a penalty but himself and Hoolahan seem to have dried up on the goal and assists front recently. I wonder why there was so much injury time?

Any chance he's a Wednesday Steward shipped in too look after their fans at that end? You know how they do in Germany?

Or he had a 1-1 bet on!

I don't suppose anyone was watching the Huddersfield (in blue and white stripes) vs Wednesday game but you have to hand it to Ross Wallace for a bit of cheek as he nicked the Hudderfield manager's written instructions to one of his players Mind you, the poster can't spell Wednesday.

Walter Zenga has got the sack at Wolves having only been manager for 14 games. Mind you, he has never really put down roots as a manager:

    1998–1999 New England Revolution
    2000–2001 Brera
    2002–2003 Naţional Bucureşti
    2004–2005 Steaua Bucureşti
    2005–2006 Red Star Belgrade
    2006 Gaziantepspor
    2007 Al-Ain
    2007 Dinamo Bucureşti
    2008–2009 Catania
    2009–2010 Palermo
    2010 Al-Nassr
    2011–2013 Al-Nasr
    2013–2014 Al Jazira
    2015 Sampdoria
    2015–2016 Al-Shaab
    2016 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Jonjo Shelvey blames racial abuse of Romain Saiss on Alopecia: http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-35221881.html

First I've heard of this - and it happened back in September.

Considering how quick the English are to document every instance of Mario Balotelli being racially abused in Serie A or a black footballer being taunted by a few monkey chants in La Liga, they are very adept at sweeping instances of racism in their own backyard under the carpet.

I have seen some flukey goals in my day but the first Newcastle goal last night against Brighton beats them all: no less than 3 Newcastle players in quick succession not meaning to put the ball where it ended http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/foo...rez-goal-video

Contrary to what i was saying elsewhere the other day -looks like LUFC and SWFC are finding form again, or in Leeds case grinding out the points anyway, at a timely juncture. Leeds had to weather some storm the other night at Birmingham. When BCFC equalised I thought they'd kick on and win as they'd bossed it all night. Their heads dropped when Leeds went right back in front.

Sheffield Wednesday were much more impressive altogether yesterday against Norwich. If Leeds are looking up the hill at Brighton and reckoning they can be caught surely Wednesday must be too.

I'll tell you after the game against Burton on Tuesday. SWFC seldom put in good btb performances. Main worry now is Fulham who despite selling some of their better players are on a hot run.

Bizarre game in Carrow Road tonight. Norwich beat Brighton 2-0 without having a shot on target. Both goals came off the woodwork and bounced in off the keeper's back

Yes, interesting quiz question. Norwich beat Brighton 2-0 without having a shot on target. Explain.

Happened Man City before, lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough despite Boro not having a shot on target, Sun Jihai scored an OG.

Looks like Sheff Wed are as good as in the play offs, but will they carry the support of Irish fans based on an ethnic irish ethnic head count? maybe if they beat Reading in the likely play off semi final pairing. But with 5 wins on the trot, the Owls are the form team and fortune usually favours the form team going into the play offs.
I'll miss this thread if they do make it

I seem to recall a weird game recently commented upon in here (possibly by Mr Pineapple) of some game (possibly in the WCQ in a far flung sandy place) where there were no shots on target for the whole match until a penalty shoot out...?

EDIT: It was some team going through a tournament without scoring a goal is what I seem to be thinking of.

Speaking of Ipswich, Wednesday beat them at the weekend. This is the first time in 14 attempts that Sheffield Wednesday have beaten a Mick McCarthy managed team. Another one of those bizarre hoodoos.

    Play offs Irish interest:

    Wednesday 1 (Westwood)
Reading 2 (McShane and Liam Kelly)
Huddersfield 1 (Sean Scannell but with 2 out on loan Joe Murphy and Tadhg Ryan
Fulham 0 but with Sean Kavanagh on loan.

Bookmakers Sky Bet price Fulham as favourites at 7/4, whilst Huddersfield Town are 9/4, Sheffield Wednesday 11/4 and surprising outsiders Reading currently sit at 5/1. No doubt which is the biggest club of that lot and which has spent the most money but that counts for nothing.

Reading also have Stephen Quinn but he's injured at the moment. Joe Denilson started a little discussion in here: http://foot.ie/threads/211025-Irish-...ffs-2016/page7
