Shocking penalty decision in 93rd minute which cost Mervue 2 valuable points v Athlone 26.04.13 - Athlone no.3 lunges over the ball with two feet in the air and lands on his arse and the referee (directly behind the play) awards him a penalty! One word ... shocking, lets hope we never see him in Fahy's Field again

still not as bad as the decision a few years ago to award Dundalk a free kick when the foul took place on edge of 6 yard box

People have this all wrong. The ref awarded the foul for the Mervue player activating a time slowing device used to confuse the attacker.

And rightly so.

Such time tampering has no place in LOI football.
