For anyone heading to Cork on Sunday, here are the directions to Avondale Park from the referees website. (www.isrscork.com)
Head towards Ringaskiddy Ferry Port through Shannon Park Roundabout, taking 1st Exit. After 1/2 a mile across from the Driving Range turn up to the right and the pitch is approx 1 mile along the road on your right hand side.
I should be in attendance so will post any updates if required.

Looking forward to it.
Avondale are going well, have 16 wins on the trot since mid September.
Be interesting to see how they step up.

Craig Burns was on the team sheet but didnt play. Lost 3-2 were very unimpressive imo. Dont know why the likes of Paddy Purcell,Shane Tracy,Stephen Bradley and Joe Gamble were not involved seems strange to me.
I imagine we kept some of the players back for friday v Waterford and the Munster Cup tie.
Disappointing performance and result.
Gamble is injured, Bradley is sick and paddy was just given the night off
I am in favour of teams playing football but there was so many times last night, that an option was on in midfield but the defenders were encouraged to play it back to the goalkeeper and start from the back again.
While I know we were missing the likes of Gamble, Tracy, Purcell, Bradley and Foley who are probably the main nucleus of the team, and that it was Gaffney's first game back from a serious injury, I am very worried for the season ahead if that is the squad we have. Cobh were a typical First Division side. Big, strong, good in the air but despite the result, I was not impressed with Limerick to be honest. Need at least another striker, centre back and another winger.
The defenders lastnight tried to play football more then the midfield, Calla and Folan looked way more comfortable on the ball then any of our midfield. That will be solved when the likes of Bradley,Gamble and Tracy come back though id imagine. Need at least 5 signings and they need to be good. quality, some of the lads lastnight are in no way good enough if they were to be the back up we would have for the season. Hopefully a few in soon waiting til the team is in Scotland wouldnt be a good idea imo that would only be something like a week before the season thats too late.
I saw that game too, it was a real eye opener. I was already worried, but now I'm convinced that this season is going to be a struggle.
Cowpar isn't good enough for the premier division either, Sheedy is a bit away too but has a lot of potential and some nice touches... I don't know what to make of Axel, buckets of pace but his touch isn't that good.
I know Gamble, Bradley, Purcell, Foley and Tracy have to go back in, but I think another 3 starting players are needed to consolidate premier status, winger, striker and centre half. Then a couple for back up and rotating the squad. It's being left very late to get everything in order and If the season was to start tomorrow, I'd be putting my house on Cork to win.

Ya twas as clear an indication of how we'll do this season as youre likely to get alright
No-one has said it is our strongest team its been pointed out that we have people to come back in. I think the point being made is that we still need a 4 or 5 to have a decent squad and not just a good starting team. A point im sure you would agree with. I know there is still time and we will get them but getting them in a week or 2 before the season starts isn't great preparation.

Ya it's no indication at all. I would expect a few more first team players to come into the starting line up over the next few games though. They need to be playing together.
Lets not forget we stuffed everyone in pre-season a few seasons ago and ended up 4th in the league.
Doesn't look like we'll be having a preseason game on the Thomond Park pitch, surely we'll train on it before the first game
I'm not a bit worried about the results in pre season what i am worried about is although its no indication of how we will do it is an indication of how weak our squad is at at the moment. Like i said i know we will get people in but its is being left very late.
There is no-one saying its the end of the world just that we need to be getting people in soon and they need to be good quality.
opeople seem to think we'll go to Scotland and pick up 4 or 5 top players and everything Will be great, if theses players are good enough for loi surely there good enough for Scottish premier thus making them unavailable as they should be playing , if there not good enough for Scotland we're screwed
Sure they are after signing two players today from League two in England but they choose to come over here. Just because they are available in Scotland, doesn't mean they aren't good enough for a newly promoted LOI Premier team. Are you saying a young player on the fringes of the Hibs or Dundee United squad won't be good enough for Limerick?

I don't know if yoyr being sarcastic but that is what I'm saying they might not be good enough for Limerick or any other serious LOI Premier team (its irrelivant if we're newly promoted or not), the scottish league isnt that great in fairness and imo it would be like getting players not good enough from Sligo, pat's, rovers, derry first team... we need experienced players not young fellas on the fringes of the Hibs / Dundee Utd panel we need proven quality (or even reliability) when you look at what we already have signed. Maybe things are finally moving along after we signed two players but I wont be getting too excited because we signed two players from League Two, one loaned out to a Conference North team(probably lower standard than Scottish Premier), I dont know anything about these two but hopefully they do the job!!
