Do John Terry or Frank Lampard have any less talented family members playing professional football that might be interested in playing for us? Might be worth looking into.
Not sure why you quoted me there and what the point is that you're trying to make. My comment spoke to him being dubbed man of the match, I can't see why that was decided.

I think because you mentioned Arter, whose brother-in-law is Scottie "I played alright for two seasons" Parker. Between relatives of Rooney, Gerrard, Parker and Rio (not to mention Michael Owen), we have a history of Irish-qualified players who are related to some of England's brightest. Probably mainly to do with the fact most of England's best players are descended from recent immigrants, to be fair.

I thought Richie Partridge, a Dubliner, was married to Owen's sister. There isn't any blood connection to Ireland in his family, is there?

The blood connection is that he's from Dublin.

    You're confusing me.

Gerrard, Ferdinand, Parker and Rooney have marginally talented family members that are eligible to play for Ireland. Michael Owen has an Irish brother in law. There is no question or relevance of eligibility there. Partridge is Irish.

In fact, I think Arter and Parker's familial connection is being in-laws. Arter's roots are traced to Sligo.

On further inspection, I don't think you implied that Owen was in any way Irish. I apologise Charlie.

My point was that a lot of Irish-qualified players are related to England internationals, through birth or marriage.

    Both of Nobby's grandfathers?

Still, look on the bright side- Christine Bleakley and her yet to be born children with Fat Frank are all eligible for you.

Nobby is married to Giles's sister. I didn't know that until quite recently. I think both of them did one of the Off The Ball live shows last summer and it was mentioned then

We are hearing that Premier League duo Aston Villa and Norwich are eyeing moves for Bournemouth midfielder Eunan O'Kane. The duo are believed to have watched O'Kane put in a man-of-the-match performance in Saturday's FA Cup defeat to Liverpool and are now weighing up a move for the former Everton youngster. O'Kane has been a revelation for Bournemouth this season and the Sky Bet Championship side are thought to have opened talks with the Republic of Ireland international over a new long-term deal at Dean Court to ward off interest in the 23-year-old.

Related by marriage and also by their rhyming slang link to haemhorroids, depending on whether you're a Dub or a Londoner. I use the Dub version myself.

I never get that rhyming slang thing, even when it's explained, I still don't get it.

But Mrs Stiles, nee Giles, does raise a snigger.

I'm fluent at the Dublin version and quite proficient at the London version.

He reminded me a lot of Darron Gibson. His short passing was superb and his positional awareness was good. If Liverpool are looking for a decent deep lying midfielder, Eunan could do a better job than Gerrard at present.

In London rhyming slang plate(s) = plates of meat = feet. So you're calling me your old feet.

Hmmm, that might well be very true, but unintended.
You can reply with whatever insult you want, in equal, double or triple measure, I obviously won't have a clue.

Who said anything about an insult?

We used to call our old boss (I worked in a Dublin bank) the Irish Punt. That was an insult even you might figure out!

More rumours about Villa's interest. If true, it would be a dramatic rise. It wasn't long ago many sneered when he declared for us! Good on him. Josh O Hanlon from Longford to Bournemouth too.
