Story here
Complete nonsense by the FAI.
A club's fans decide to give up their own time and equipment to provide coverage for those that can't be there
The club have no issue with it
They don't go "head to head" with traditional media
They don't break the "curfew" on highlights
And yet the FAI strongarm the club/service.......
They actually get worse and worse complete shower of absolute clowns.
RTE have most of Shams matches live anyways so no big deal.
Such a load of utter nonsense. Did they do the same to Shelstv?
Both provide a great service and I don't think much damage is done in a commercial sense to be honest.
That is an absolutely dreadful decision.
#NeverStopNotGivingUp
Total nonsense but then it's the FAI.
What is the story with having to get permission on a match by match basis to do just commentary now? Does that affect radio stations too?
Wonder if we gonna get asked to get permission for the Pats one.
Also wonder who the rights holder for internet broadcasts is, if there even is one.
5-0
What possible justification could the FAI have for such a decision?
Probably missed seeing their names in the papers.
The only semi-reasonable reason they could have would be if they'd sold the online streaming rights to another company, but even so that'd be best served with a smooth transition rather than just cutting the service. Plus as if the FAI could organise online streaming.
Their names were in the papers this week with that abandoned minute's silence....hmmmm....
Fair enough Ja, I was going with what their statement said.
very poor form from the FAIlures.
I like high energy football. A little bit rock and roll. Many finishes instead of waiting for the perfect one.
The Shels game was not the first game to be available online after games.
The FAI are only looking out for their own interests. It's common practice for other FA's to operate similar policies. The difference here is games are shown here 70 hours after the final whistle, when in most other countries, coverage is shown a couple of hours later at most. Unfortunately in this league, there is just one main broadcaster, and whatever they want, they get, be it live coverage or highlights. We are all subject to that situation, and we have to accept it.

Which is exactly why they should show some ****ing cop on and allow set ups like SRFCTV to operate in a sort of grey area plugging the gaps that the official service just cannot cater for. If they overstep the line, eg. the game being available in full straight after full time, just have a quick word and remedy the problem.
The FAI's problem is that they are professional in all the wrong ways, and largely unprofessional in every area that actually counts.
Don't disagree with the decision. FAI have a deal with RTÉ for exclusive rights, so they were right.
Sporting F*ck All!
No sign of a statement from the FAI or League on this yet, or at least nothing on here or on here
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
