Thanks for the info Jof. Were you at it? If so, how'd we manage to concede two, and could you name a rough First XI, please?

Ya I was there for the first half and about 10 minutes of the second.

Starting 11 was - Barry Ryan, Shaun Kelly, Brian O Callaghan, Shane Guthrie, Andrew Bhandarkar, Sean Brosnan, Stephen Bradley, Steven McGann, Shane Tracey, Denis Behan, Barry Sheedy.

The FAS team took the lead after 10 minutes, a poor back pass from Bhandarkar was picked up on by the FAS centre forward and he did well to round the keeper and stick it in the net. About 15 minutes later Bradley played a nice ball over the top which McGann controlled first time and lobbed the keeper, great finish. 5 minutes later we where behind, Calla played the ball back to Ryan who picked it up under pressure. The ref called it as a back pass but Calla said he kneed it back. In fairness to the ref I was at a similar angle and it did look like a back pass but the lads behind the goal said it wasn't. From about 5 yards the FAS team took their goal well and hammered into the net (Limerick FC's Colin Daly according to LTID). We went straight up from the kick off and won a free out to the left. The ball was crossed in and Guthrie headed it home well. Dave Ryan, Purcell, Quinn, O'Leary and Scully came on for the second half. I know Sheedy scored the 3rd but don't know anything about it and not sure if anyone else came on.

The team looked rusty enough at times. Sean Brosnan wasn't as dangerous as usual. I was very impressed with McGann in the middle, he is a big strong lad for his age. Guthrie is huge, much bigger than I thought, himself and Purcell will be very big and physical centre backs. Bradley didn't do a whole pile in the middle but won a few balls back and most the time he played attacking passes. With Gamble playing defensive and Bradley more attacking they should be a good team up in the middle.

The FAS team where impressive with a lot of young players, a good few Limerick u19's I'm told, I've only seen the u19's once this season so can't name exactly who played with the FAS team. Jason Hughes captained the FAS team.

Colin Daly, Cian Collins & Michael Menton are the 3 LFC U19's on the FAS team.

Thanks a million Jof, I asked for some detail but I wasn't expecting that much. Thanks very much. =) I was worried about the scoreline, but from what you say the goals we conceded weren't as a result of any serious vulnerability in the team or system, just shaking off the rust, making simple errors? Thanks again for your insight.

Beat UCD 2-1 today. Goals from Shane Tracy and Paddy Purcell.

    Starting team was: Barry Ryan,Shaun Kelly,Shane Guthrie,Corie Treacy,Andrew Bhandarkhar,Paudie Quinn,Steve Bradley,Dave O'Leary,Shane Tracy,Cian Collins,Denis Behan.

Joe Gamble came on before half time in place of O'Leary and played the rest of the game.....Barry Sheedy,Steven McGann,Sean Brosnan,Alex Scully,Paddy Purcell,Brian O Callaghan,David Ryan and Shane Cusack given runs too.
Sean Maher was on the bench nut didnt come on.

Scrappy game being honest all the symptoms of the first real pre season friendly with people not really being sharp....1st goal Cian Collins played a nice ball through to Behan who got it under control turned and got off a good shot which was saved by Barron but straight to Tracy,2nd was a fantastic ball in from Tracy from a corner met with a good powerful header from Paddy....UCDs goal was a lovely finish from long range scorer probably given too much space.

Few opinions of from todays game:

Shane Guthrie: Could be a really good partner for Paddy imo hes big and strong but hes also good on the ball doesnt hoof for the sake of it found some nice passes out from the back today

    Stephen Bradley:
Doesnt do anything explosive or spectacular but is very good in possession doesnt lose the ball much uses it very well....Seems a step ahead when he gets the ball very quick thinking and plays some lovely passes....Always available and looking for the ball....Keeps attacks going well by not constantly passing backwards and sideways.....Himself and Gamble started to really pull the strings in the middle in the 2nd half until he came off.

Brian O'Callaghan: Wasnt on long enough to make a real impact but fantastic to see him back after his horrible injury and he looks in good shape.

Dave O'Leary: Seems a bit bigger and stronger then last season which is good.

Steven McGann: Think we could have a real player on our hands with this lad, Big and Strong for his age has lovely control should efiniteley see soem 1st team action this year...Would rate him higher then Sheedy and Collins myself.

Did ok got stuck in well and wasnt afraid to get involved on the ball, played a lovely ball through which led to our first goal.
Showed his inexperience at times with some of his runs and could do with being a bit stronger but that will all come with more training and game time with the first team.

Came off with a tight hamstring dont think was anything too serious.

    Sligo 3-2 Limerick

    (Derek O Brien, Dawid Janczyk)

Good run out against a very strong Sligo team. Derek O Brien was very good in attack in the first half and took his goal very well. Kind of faded in the second half. Had a bit of class about him. Dawid Janczyk was kind of lost in the first half playing as the lone striker in a team with lads he never played with. Got one chance from out at the edge of the box and absolutely stuck it top corner with a screamer. Lubos Kaluda looked decent in the middle, was well able to get around the field and get stuck in. A lot of what he was trying wasn't working as their again he was playing with a new set of players. O'Leary, Behan, Quinn, Tracey and Gamble all did very well when they came on.

Cool, thanks. It's strange that the whole thread remained silent on it. I would have expected Gael and LTID to have been down there.

    Delighted to hear Shane scored.

What a team. Is this our first team now, or will O'Brien start instead of Tracy/Gaffney/Quinn? Any news on Gary Sheehan (or has this been dealt with elsewhere)?

Finally, the club website squad page badly needs updating and there's no score up for the Drogs game. How'd it end?

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Sorry for all the questions!

    Finished 1-1.

I would say that would be close enough to our starting XI from what i've heard and seen from pre-season so far. Quality team with the likes of Derek O' Brien, Foley, Sheahan (hopefully), Bhandarkar, O' Leary all good players in the squad fighting for a starting position.

Gary Sheahan has been training and assessed by club physio and from what i've heard he is having slight trouble with the leg he broke this time last year and hasn't officially signed because of that.
