    FAI seek Derry exemption

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...310808680.html

"Gavin also confirmed the league expects word from Uefa in the coming weeks on whether it has been successful in obtaining an exemption for Derry City from the rule that only clubs whose parent company has been trading for three years can enter European competition. If Uefa say no then Bohemians will take the club’s place in the Europa League."

Derry broke the rules. And yet the FAI are seeking to reward them for this. What precedent does it set for clubs like Bray and UCD which are well run don't go over budget yet don't have the success of other clubs because they follow the rules?

I like the way Bohs could be the ones to benefit. Kind of highlights how the LoI never learns.

Great to see that our wonderful association continue to move the goalposts as they please. Going out of their way for some, and not giving two hoots about others.

Yeah, OP edited. And I've no idea what an Excemption is, and how you'd try to lure it.

Derry 1st of all get to walk away from huge debts, allowed bypass the A League, keep the same crest, history and name of old club and now the FAI are trying to get them into Europe despite the rules set down.

    Great week for the FAI.

btw, if it had of been Cork in this position they would have done the same thing but it still stinks.

The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.

Disgraceful behaviour from the FAI. Why should anyone bother to play by the rules if this is how the FAI treat you when you blatantly disregard them?

Technically Fingal were founded in 2007, and entered the Europa League in 2010, so maybe that's why. Clutching at straws but probably an excuse the FAI would be happy to provide

I would say that Derry would do a lot better in Europe than bohs and that would help our coefficients which if prob more important to the FAI
