    LOI trio heading to Glentoran

Rumour this morning that Mark Quigley, Aidan Price and Glenn Cronin are all heading North to join Glentoran. Any thoughts?

Quigley is a gem. Too good for the Irish League (no offence intended).

Quigley is a good player - one of the better strikers in the LOI. Cronin is quite useful in the defensive midfielder role. Price is a central defender.

I think a benefactor helped them out a few months back. Although I don't think they have the spending power they used to have.

Quigley's the best player in the country when his head is right. Nominated for PFAI player fo the year in 2011. He won the Young POTY in 2007. if he was in the EPL, Sky Sports would call him 'mercurial'

Price is a tall, slow centra half with a good read of the game. Decent defensive organiser. If he was in the EPL, Sky Sports would call him 'lion hearted'

Cronin's very injury prone but a good solid, no nonsense midfielder. Can score from long range too. If he was in the EPL, Sly Sports would call him 'injured'

Quigley has a hairdo like Lionel Ritchie in the 'Hello' video; Price has a proto-comb over and Cronin hasn't a blade.

Benefactor cleared one of their debts but that doesn't really help their spending power as I think their wage cap limit is lower than other clubs due to their poor financial state.

There is not a mission Glentoran could afford these 3 unless they are able to get rid of quite a few of their current players.

Was kind of hoping Limerick would sign Price.

    And Cronin.

    And Quigley.

That's a good point. There's nothing much to stop LOI players on one season contracts nipping north of the border to play for a few months wages, then rejoining an LOI club once our season starts again.

Well the Northern club would have to agree to release their registration when the window opens again. Not sure they'd be too open to that arrangement.

And you can help them make it happen.

You are right though. The wage cap at Glentoran appears to be maxed out currently.

The success it's bringing is awesome - they're County Antrim Shield Runners Up.
The Englishmen came over in the year 2005
But little did they know that we'd planned a wee surprise
Sir David scored the winner, and Windsor Park went wild
And this is what we sang...

Stating it is one thing, achieving it is another. With the wage cap now in force, transfer activity in the IL has virtually ground to a hault. Given the wages Glentoran throw about, I doubt there are many clubs willing to take over contracts of such players who are quite entitled to sit on them.

The Gareth Farrelly '3 clubs in a season' saga from 2007 would set a precident to prevent that happening.
The Leinster Senior League needs a strong Bohemians
