Very, very close, Mr A. So close your own clue needn't be changed, but my first word has five letters and a couple of yours between w and k shouldn't be there. The rest is spot on.

Arkansas – was once, but is no longer. Seems likes somebody nicked a name. (3, 4, 2, 11)

(I think it was on Clinton’s first visit to Ireland and everybody wondered what he would call Derry. He got round all the diplomatic problems by referring to the City of Londonderry in the County of Derry, or some such construction. The cute h**r!!)
