Give the lad as much time as he needs, respect his background and accept whatever decision he makes. I really cannot understand how some on here can view life in such a simplistic manner
Some people seem to think that all footballers live in a fantasy serf world governed by different social rules and behavioural expectations for the solitary purpose of providing those on the outside with endless entertainment and satisfaction.

TOWK has definitely taken a hard line fundamentalist view on this topic over the last few months alright, but in recent posts I think he has avoided making crass value judgments and simply voiced frustration, which is fair enough. Supporting England over the country he actually plays for when they're both in the same tournament isn't a crime but it's certainly awkward. In Jack's defence - and this is my turn at wild speculation - it was pretty obvious that Ireland were going to make up the numbers given who we were drawn against, whereas England were genuinely hopeful of doing something. If I was a dual national I'd have been more excited by England's prospects.

As for all the other stuff about needing to respect the thoughts of dual nationals, I agree entirely. And as for the view that teenagers shouldn't be held up as philosophy role models, I agree too. Jeez, some of the things I thought and actually did when I was even a few years older than Jack, well all I can say is that thank God we had no social media in those days!

I'd be very, very sceptical about predicting that this boy is going to run the show for Ireland for the next 15 years.
Given the twittering environment that young British/Irish players exist in, there's plenty of distractions to lead a young player to wealthy mediocrity before he is 21.

Given gastric's advanced age it might be unsurprising that he needs inspiration to show that he doesn't suffer from the "Irish Curse".

There are Championship clubs looking for him on loan but it appears he might end up being involved with the first team.

Lambert sounds like he is certainly considering him for first team football at Villa, rather than directly sending him out on loan.

Little mention in the Guardian's Villa season preview:

As for the rest, are Nathan Baker and Ciaran Clark good enough? Is Ashley Westwood able to take his game to the next level? Can Gary Gardner put all his injury problems behind him and make an impression? Is this the season that young Jack Grealish breaks through?

Could be the man to shine for Villa this year and someone to possibly give the fans some hope. My basic synopsis of this article about our Jack.

Who would he be up against to play on the wing?

Joe Cole, Leandro Bacuna, Kieran Richardson (who can play elsewhere), Aleks Tonev and Charles N'Zogbia.

Not exactly a stellar list of rivals. Much depends on Lambert's willingness to give youth a chance.

PS That list is dependent on how they line up, tactically. Weimann and others come into the mix in a 4-3-3.

Outside of Everton, Hull and Stoke, there is barely any Irish interest in the Premier League.

Who outside of that trio has players that will be guaranteed significant playing time, unencumbered?

QPR - Dunne has stiff competition
Palace - Delaney has stiff competition
Sunderland - Poyet has dropped O'Shea before (all these players are 33 and over)
West Ham - O'Brien in and out of West Ham team

Hopefully Lambert gets sacked as soon as possible so Roy can start playing and signing loads of Irish players.
