Most of the comments appear to be jocular but I think it would have been better to leave him alone and let the matter rest http://www.independent.ie/sport/socc...-34208965.html Walking Roy Keane's dog

Pathetic especially mentioning Paddy Kenny (both parents Irish) and Gary Doherty who was born in Ireland !!

Either way, I'd say it's Thomas Delaney who has the real egg on his face at the moment... at least Grealish still has a small chance of making the euros.

Delaney looks very comfortable at this level though in seriousness- another one that got away.

Curiously, the Indo article doesn't mention the North getting Maik Taylor to play for them despite having literally no connection to them.

Probably would defeat the author's point though.

Il a dit : " Personnellement, je pense que nous serions mieux sans Walters dans l'équipe si nous allons faire un aller bon de cela. "

Anyone else bothered by the use of the informal/singular tu instead of the formal/plural vous?

Hey! What's the story with Grealish anyway? Has he been "frozen out" by Remi Garde or is there an injury at play? From hero to zero with a zero club. It all changed so quickly. Do you think he'll be regretting his decisions at this stage?

He was initially dropped after a breach of club discipline (he was out in a Manchester nightclub hours after Villa lost to Everton last November) but he has since picked up an ankle injury and is expected back at the beginning of April.

Things did take a sharp nose-dive for him. The impression I have is that Aston Villa are his one true love with international football being secondary, so hard to know whether he regrets his decision. I presume his clearance has come through by now to play for the FA, although actually making a squad seems very far off at present. Villa are certs to be relegated as well, so, unless he gets a move to another Premier League club at the end of the season, playing Championship football next season won't help with any international ambitions he may have either.

As geysir posted in the eligibility thread, Grealish's clearance for England was announced yesterday: http://foot.ie/threads/147164-Eligib...=1#post1862296

And to rub salt in the lad's wounds, just in time for St. Paddy's Day.

A summer at the Euros with the Paddies would have been a lovely shop window for Jack boy. Instead, his only shop window is Villa reserves.

I'm sure he's got the ability to come again as a player though. Nightmare time for him at present.

Would he have been in our squad after the season he delivered ? I would say probably not. Then again, had he not taunted the God of karma so brazenly he might well have had a very different season who knows

Be great if in ten years time the high point of this fellas career was our U21 POTY award which he had the audacity to accept.
