My emphasis. It's an interesting and detailed article, though I wish English journos and their editors could avoid lazy cliche when covering anything about NI, not to mention non-league and semi pro football. Variously,
* Seaview stadium looks more up-to-date than at anytime I can remember. There's the pioneering all-weather pitch for community use, the refurbished main stand and plans for modular new stands that can even be moved to any new site
* either stick to the more precise 'unionist' and 'nationalist', or better still avoid stereotypes completely. Not everyone in NI votes on sectarian lines, Crues have had numerous players from nationalist backgrounds, as well as the Republic
* can''t blame Conn if Crues director Mark 'Sledge' Langhammer goes off on one, bit his comment about any Catholic entering the Seaview clubhouse at risk of death is bat**** crazy
Really good review gather round. I like reading pieces like this. So much cliched journalism around and it seems to filter down through training to maintain the stereotypes.
It's rare if ever I have read a piece that is complete divorced from the old associations of any background/topic. As a lesson to a wannabe, how would you like to have seen that written without the cliches?
