It'd be great if they did blatantly favour a draw against each other though. France put South Africa away only to be denied by something not entirely in line with the spirit of the game..

Wow great stuff. World cup came alive today, was EXCELLENT
Mexico are a joy to watch, not a negative bone in their bodies at all. Two centre backs were great. Hope they can go on now to win the group................

How good was their left back in the first half? I don't think the BBC commentators even noticed how well he was playing. They need to start Hernandez from now on.

Yep, Mexico really are pleasing on the eye. They mullered England at Wembley, yet lost 3-1 though. You've got to be effective as well as pretty and I'm not sure they are. I'd like to see them do well, and Chile too.

Strangely enough I didn't take any pleasure in seeing France being beaten because they didn't seem to care or feel the hurt. Perhaps in their hearts they believed they shouldn't really have been there or is that a bit Freudian. As for the 10 French supporters who turned up....grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. We would have had at least 5k.

Well done to Mexico on 3 counts. 1. Winning the game. 2. Playing attcking football to try and win the game and 3. Their fans who were the first that could be heard over the vuvuvelas or whatever they are called.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

I agree he talks too much.He comments on every thing that happens in the match and over-analyses everthing. But the problem is if you change over to the BBC Mick McCarthy is hard to listen to aswell.

That group is getting interesting now. Germany very poor in front of goal. Yellow card count was crazy.

Referee ruined the first half with a flurry of cards, and then failed to give cards for the same offences in the second half.
Serbia rarely got out of their own half, and were content to pack the last third of the pitch to limit the German attacking options
Gives Australia the encouragement to try and get a result against Ghana tomorrow, and sets up the last games in this group this coming wednesday nicely.
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

How the **** was that a yellow card for Klose? I read somewhere that the ref in charge had sent off 11 players in 17 games in La Liga last season.

Terrible refereeing performance and Podolski's confidence is always suspect, but I was still very impressed by the Germans. Tremendous response when up against it. There's a lot to admire in that team.

2-0 HT. Predictable poorly researched fare from BBC pundits at half time. Very surprising blah blah blah. Hang on, Slovenia qualified ahead of Poland and Czechs (and NI). They beat Slovakia home and away. They beat Russia over 2 legs. They even passed England off the pitch at Wembley last year, losing 2-1 after a ludicrous penalty decision that England were embarrased to be given. You'd at least think the pundits would recall that much.

If they'd done any research they'd have noticed that Slovenia can play a bit.

Probably a good result for England though, if Slovenia have qualified ahead of the last game. I was hoping for a draw or narrow USA win.
