Irish Independent : World Cup DVD Collection

Feel like a bit of a kid again but is anybody else going collecting this with The Independent? The first part was Germany 2006 and is working backwards. It was better than I thought it would be so I'll probably continue to get it. The DVD's are €4.99 from this Saturday onwards. By the way for anybody who did get it and thought (like me) that the envelope type box it came in was a bit rubbish, they are providing the proper collectors box with Part 2.

2006 and 2002 are being sold together for €4.99, in a Texaco garage near where I live.
It appears that both DvD's are in there own separate DvD case. They promote individuals on each DvD aswell, 'Pele' and 'Maradona' on one of the years.

    2006.

I watched the 2006 one during the week, have to say i was surprised how good it was considering it was free.Thought they would just show a handfull of goals for 10mins and that would be it,but were much more comprehensive then i expected. Will collect them.

    I got it no bother
watched the 2006 one which was good, but the 2002 was dire - no actual decent views of any of the goals at all -

I also find the lack of proper angle for most of the goals a bit annoying but I suppose it is more of a documentary than anything else. It is very comprehensive as mentioned earlier. I've continued to get them anyway but haven't watched the most recent one, Mexco 1986, yet. They only barely passed over the Saipan fiasco on the 2002 DVD, I know it wasn't quite the big deal to the rest of the world but I'd have expected a little more detail than they gave. I had forgotten about Rijkaard spitting at Voller in 1990, dirty maggot. The additional feature of the player profiles is rubbish really, just show them scoring a couple of goals that you will see on the feature anyway. I'm looking forward to next Saturday's DVD, Spain 1982 and Schumacher's Shame.

Is it like that for most of them, as I have only watched two so far?

Yeah it is really, think Italy 90 wasn't too bad in that regard though.

I have got the first few dvds but to be honest ive being disappointed by them. The 1990 dvd wasnt very complimentary about us either, does a bit of a cringeworthy piece following some paddy guy to the games.
The dvds are more documentary based than a highlights compiliation which i would prefer. There was a dvd given away by a now defunct paper (Dublin Daily was it?) shortly after the 2002 WC and it was great, showed all the goals and highlights as well.

Watched the mexico 86 DVD last night and enjoyed it.

Mexico 86 is the first WC I can remember, so it brough back a lot of memories:

    Maradona running with the Ball
    Mexico 86 logo
WC Adidas boots with the red sole (my first proper pair of boots)
    Pannini stickers
    Lineker golden boot
    Karl Heinz Remineger
    Socartes (some beard)
    Platini
    Maradona earing
    Circles cut into the pitch
    More Pannini stickers
    class Trophy
    ... i could go on

Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
