Have the FAI anything to say about this latest farce at all? Three and a bit weeks to kick off and nobody knows who's playing where or when or who or how many times.

Or how many are going up/down.

Cobh lost home and away to Salthill remember. They may decide they're not ready for the step up. On the flip side, with Castlebar and Cobh out of the A League, there'd be less chance of them getting relegated from the First Division.

In General, this whole thread is littered with people showering themselves in the glass of their own houses.

Cobhs team last year were only children from what I saw of them, I'm sure if they were facing into an actual full season of proper League Of Ireland they'd sign a few experienced local heads and be alright duking it out with Salthill, Mervue and the like.

It would be a disgrace if the number of teams was reduced, clubs have budgeted for 33 games.

Its a total sham what happened to SF..They got too ambitious too soon...I wonder will SF end up in the A league or is this the end of SF?
Cobh should get an invite or if someone else drops out, both divisions can have 10 clubs in each. It might just be the way forward...

    quick question.
What do you guys (particularly those who are happy about all this) think will or should happen to the Special Olympics team, the team for the Deaf, and the power soccer and futsal sides....?

If the Drog's or Boh's bow out, they can settle for 10 in division one as well and play 36 games like the Premier.

Can't really see them getting a licence, tbh. The futsal team's pitch would be way too short for starters.

maybe the club should've thought about them before offering their reserve keeper €700 a week. How ****ing dare you try to make this about the Special Olympics and the Deaf

Presumably the council will continue to fund them. That sort of stuff was why they were involved in the club, not looking for glory from the first team, right?
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

As far as i'm aware the community teams such as the Special Olympics and Powerchair teams will continue as normal. They operate on their own budgets and have their own volunteers so things won't change to much for them. The only difference is that they'll be the main teams of the club now and not the LOI Squad.

if nothing else these teams will be a positive legacy left behind by a club who really did try make a difference in the community. Having been on a programme run by their Community Trust I am grateful to what the club gave me and my family and will sorely miss them.

The situations in Cork and Derry were somewhat diferent but in each case it needed a group ready, willing and able to step up to the plate at short notice, in our case, a grand total of nine days! That whole episode was rough on a few other clubs, too.

Have a word Dodge, it was a genuine question he asked and no need for the over reaction .

I think they gave u a run for ur money loosing 2-1 u scoring on 93 minute whey cobh had 10 players.. The average age is 19 with some experience cobh loi player now . They finished loosing to salthill who were under pressure in the second half only for their goalkeeper they would have been in the Achampionship ..

I stand by my reaction. its disgusting to use the Special olympics team and the Deaf team when the problem is clearly only with the LOI team. As the LOI team was loss making, there is absolutely no reason why the others can't finction without it.

    pathetic to suggest so

If the league promote Drogheda as was mentioned and also Cobh been brought back into the league it would be very unfair on Cobh. They'd have very little time to organise a team fit for LOI. Only case would be to have no relegation play off this season in order to give Cobh a chance at least to organise for next season.

There will be no division to be relegated into after this year. I doubt there will be a play off

well it was a genuine question.
i also mentioned the futsal team, i wasnt trying to make a point about teams for those with special needs just making a point that Sporting fingal genuinly had more going for it than just this franchise that people hate so much., that it had other teams representing the club in different leagues. My question was if it collapses and disappears as an entity would the associate teams also disappear.
