Duff's £17m in 2003 just about edges out Robbie's £13m in 2000, after transfer inflation adjustment.
I think the only other notable was Frank Stapleton's to Man U in early 1980's for about £1m.
Wasn't McCarthy in and around the 12m mark??

McCarthy signed for £13m, the second most expensive signing in Everton's history, up until then at least.

Yes but these days they're reichmarks

According to Paul Tomkins Transfer Price Index (TPI)
    Duff 17m in 2003, that was worth 37m in 2012 and 49m 2013
    Robbie 13m in 2000, that was worth 27m in 2012 and 37m in 2013
    McCarthy 12m in 2013

Roy Keane's transfer <4m in 1993, probably would be worth about 25m in 2003 and 80m in 2013

    Bargain.

EDIT: Wasn't it 3.75m for him? That number has stuck in my head forever.

It says Roy Keane would be worth 32.3m in todays money. Where did you get 80m?

'It' says that, I say different, that's where the 'probably' comes in to play, I being the brain behind the probable factor.
'It' has no effective way to properly adjust transfer fees from the early/mid 1990's.
I adjust Roy's transfer fee of 3.75m, to a list of transfers in 2003 when Duff was transferred for 17m and I calculate Roy's 3.75. would be worth 25m in 2003
and if it was worth 25m in 2003 then it was worth 80m in 2013. according to the transfer index.

Sorry, but none of that made any sense. Iceland does strange things to people.

The Independent is reporting Brady to Norwich has been completed, nothing official from either club.
All goals, yellow and red cards tweeted in real time on mastodon, BlueSky and facebook

You can not make sense of anything , and you think that's down to me
Its probably more a case that you are not as smart as you might think you are.

When I wrote in a separate line in my post "Roy Keane's transfer <4m in 1993, probably would be worth about 25m in 2003 and 80m in 2013",
I made that calculation, I was not quoting values from the transfer index. That transfer index is not the gospel, there are flaws in it.
And is there anybody on this board who would disagree with my adjustment of the value of Roy's record transfer in 1993 of 3.75m, to 25m in 2003, to 80m in 2013? Possibly it's on the conservative side.
Do you disagree with that particular adjustment of values?

I do. The world record fee at the time was £13m. That makes Roy's fee a little more than 1/4 of the largest fee paid, which would be ~25m of today's money. Now that's obviously not right either as it was a British record fee, so you'd have to put the fee somewhere in between £25m and £80m. I'd say you could probably adjust it a bit above the midpoint, so let's say £55-60m.

A player fo Roy Keane's quality based on some of the práisce out there would be "worth" about 60m without hesitation. And I'm sure every bloody club would bite your hand off for him at that price.

Lads if Vidal is going for around the €30 mark, and what did Madrid spend on Illaramendi, Keane would fetch 50m, no problems. 50m STG, so equate that to what you like in Euros. I think 80m Euros is a bit exaggerated, but certainly he'd fetch a considerable fee. God knows what Zidane in his prime nowadays would fetch. In retrospect, the fee United got for Ronaldo is a BARGAIN

Roy Keane would be serving a lot of suspensions in todays game. Probably lower his value quite a bit.

Probably, but that's the Roy Keane who captained Manchester United during the most successful period in their history, not the Roy Keane who who was merely a stand out player in a relegated Nottingham Forest side.

John Fallon has reported that the deal has been completed, but Fallon has a history of talking out of more than one orifice.

    http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwich...ture_1_4172522

The Irish Independent stated Brady has penned a three-year deal, with the option of a further year, to become Alex Neil’s third summer signing after Youssouf Mulumbu and a permanent deal for Graham Dorrans.

City officials have reacted to those fresh reports by insisting there are no plans to unveil any new players ahead of the Hammers’ visit with Brady’s protracted summer transfer still to be finally rubber-stamped.
I'm skeptical the move will happen TBH.

Well I wasn't talking about what he was worth, just what the original fee would translate to.

    Confirmed by Norwich: http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/artic...y-2579067.aspx
