Macedonia (A) - flights

Post any info on travel to Macedonia in here. I'll try keep a summary of the main links in this post.

Easyjet fly to thessaloniki in greece from gatwick. there are two trains a day from there to skopje, taking about four hours each and apparently costing about 14 euro one way at 557 and 1705 (GMT+2), with skopje - thessaloniki twice daily at 740 at 1730 (GMT+1). The easyjet timetable currently has the planes leaving gatwick at 550 and thessaloniki at 1150, so i'd imagine that itinerary would look like this for a saturday game:

thursday - travel to london on any flight
friday - fly to thessaloniki, arriving at 1110 (GMT). Catch 1705 (+2 GMT) train and arrive in skopje at 2017 (+1 GMT)
saturday - Matchday!
sunday - catch 1730 (GMT+1) train to thessaloniki arriving at 2237 (GMT+2)
monday - catch 1150 (GMT+2) flight to gatwick arriving at 1320 (GMT) leaving plenty of time for onward travel to wherever....

now the problem is if we are playing two away games in the space of a few days and macedonia happens to be one of them (unless slovakia is the other, as there are direct trains from bratislava to skopje). if we were playing saturday and tuesday, you would need to have your onward travel figured out pretty well!

Justr booked this trip this morning. Heathrow to Skopje with JAT for 283 pp out Fri lunch time leaving early SUn morning.

Anyone have an idea what the package trips will cost to this. Last time i booked a package to an away game was macedonia with 747 and i said never again. Tough to get to though so might go with abbey travel if decent deals on and with our discount with the season card !!

Malev have flights Dublin to Budapest and Budapest to Skopje out Friday the 3rd and back Sunday the 5th for €529 return including all taxes.

For that price, you'd want to be staying a couple more days to justify it, more so if you have the Monday off.

booked flights Dub - Amsterdam AerLingus , Ams - Prague - Skopje return with Czech airlines. Total cost for all 6 flights with taxes € 355, going out Thur June 2, back Mon June 6. Hotels in Skopje pretty full as there is a conference on there from June 1 to June 4.

We booked this last week with Malev. We're going out on the Wednesday and return on the Sunday. The flights came to about €460 and the hotel was about €230, so it's just under €700 for the lot. Just glad to have it sorted.

Flights with www.austrian.com available. Can head out Th, Fr or even Sat and back Sun or Mon - Flights currently around the £200 mark (LHR via Vienna to Skopje)

Ok, Ill look out for a fella wearing a cowboy hat and Mayo gah jersey, whining on about no sam for 60 years! (or is it a Rossie one?, in which case replace 60 with 70!!)
