Ya the same guy (Willie Boland). Had to retire from full time cause of his knee. Fully fit now and well able to play a full game, just the training everyday of the week was killing him. Hartlepool where supposedly gutted he had to retire from full time. One or two more signings for Limerick and we should mount a decent challenge at the top.

Sligo Rovers are delighted to announce the signing of John Russell until the end of the 2010 Airtricity Premier Division season.

Russell, a free agent, will be available to Paul Cook for the clash with Bohemians on Saturday night in the Showgrounds.

The midfielder has been one of Galway United’s most consistent performers in recent seasons.

The 24-year-old has Republic of Ireland under-17 and under-19 honours.

It is likely he will not make his full debut until next week as the midfielder is still recovering from an ankle injury picked up in the off-season.

Has anything further happened with the investigation threatened into Sligo and Chris Turner? Did this investigation cover other signings and advance payments / signing-on fees?

he has been injured so far this year, so it saves money on wages to wait until he is better

Presumably in that context it means he has played well consistently rather than he has played a lot of games

Michael McGowan's re-signing by Dundalk has finally been approved by the FAI. It only took 8 days for the FAI to process the application. Thankfully they were able to devote their full attention to speeding this through at this busy time for registration requests!!!!!
