Whole range of cameras being used in here but they're all my own stuff alright. Studied photography for two years in Cork (involved taking pictures, drinking suring the day, and going into the dark room by night) so have been involved in exhibitions but in general I just do it for myself. Haven't really found a style I really like yet, plus it takes years to get really good and make some money. That said I'm friends with some photographers who are just unbelievable with a camera.

Cameras used if I can recollect correctly are a Canon 400D SLR, a Canon SLR that I have since lost and I can't remember the model , a Yashica 635 medium format camera and a Holga. I'll go back and edit to show you which ones were used for what but I just want to throw up a pic of my Yashica cause I love it

Picked up on e bay for about 40 quid and all

EDIT: Can't edit the first page posts but the first two pics and the Jackman Park one were taking on the Canon 400D, the riot photos, the smiling man, Jesus, the Walls of Limerick For Sale and Malostranska were on the Canon SLR, and the girl by the river was on the Yashica

Feeling out of my depth in this thread, only have a point and shoot. Would love to get into proper SLR stuff. Some great photos above by JB and others.

Did you ever notice that in every painting of Adam & Eve, they have belly buttons. Think about that...take as long as you want.

Wow some absolutely fantastic photo's there.Cheers lads. One Red Army ya may have a 'point and shoot' which is generally what mine have come from but ya have taken some fine pictures.

Bluebeard I have to say I'm glad I started this. My perspective on photography has changed and I am embarrased by my own attempts at this stage. However it gets worse. My next round are coming from my mobile.

Cheers Jebus for explaining. My next purchase will be a Canon or Nikon if thats the quality they take but a good solid recommendation is also welcome on whats good to get and also been affordable. Going to delve into savings I had for laser surgery and get a decent camera.

Nikon and Canon are much of a muchness man, you'll have Nikon fans swearing blind they're better, you'll have Canon fans doing likewise, truth be told there isn't a whole heap of difference between them.

Before buying I'd recommend popping into Easons and picking up a digital photography magazine, they usually have reviews of cameras in them.

Edit to say the 400d is a mighty fine camera

Thing to remember about photography is that there are no definites in what's good or bad, just personal taste

My favourite photographers would be Don McCullen, Elliott Erwitt, William Claxton, Sebastiao Salgado, James Fox and Henri Cartier Bresson and I've heard all but one of them being dismissed in my time (all bar Salgado, you'd genuinely want to be blind to not find his stuff amazing)

You've got an eye for it anyway Harpsbear, that's evident enough in your images

Apart from the one you'll see on La Rambla's in Barcelona. That guy who whistles everything is actually incredibly funny and mesmerises crowds. That said it benefits greatly those hell bent on stealing everything you have while your mesmerised.
