    Tonight's Troubling Story

Once I had a modicum of respect for Rovers - having known a couple of their more "rounded fans" (dfx and Juz to name two)

But after tonight - my views have been set in stone unfortunately.

I hope that club and it's scumbag following who feel it's perfectly fine to assault a Match Official with a missile are well and truly proud of their scumbag following tonight.

If they - God forbid - win the League by 3 or less points this season - then they can give a hearty pat on the back to the scumbag who threw the particular bottle of Coca Cola which hit the Assistant Referee causing the game to be held up when Alan Kelly rightly went over to check on the well being of the AR concerned - thereby delaying the taking of said Penalty Kick - then it'll be as devauled a League win as the "Rubber Medals" debacle involving Pats and Shels.

I fully expect the FAI to turn a blind eye to this - as seems to be their want this season concerning certain football clubs

I agree, let's have open season on match officials. Sling with impunity!

Shamrock Rovers = good. Shamrock Rovers = officials struck by missiles. Therefore, officials struck by missiles = good.

The missile thrower has been roundly condemned by our fans. We know there will be a heavy punishment as a result of it. As I say, it was the first such incident in 61 games, as we are aware of the consequences.

Secondly, it was your own player who stuck the penalty into Sandyford, not us.

As regards the FAI turning a blind eye to clubs, they've done plenty of that at your club in the last couple of years, but they won't turn a blind eye to our issues.

Good to know though that the League Cup result you got last weekend has worn off fairly quick.

Shams fans are, in the main, ferret heads. But you cannot say that this incident could not occur with any other set of fans
I seem to recall a similar incident of our own a while back. A hefty fine and I would be happy enough and hopefully they find him and ban him.
They will be fined for the flares as well I'm sure as is the norm.

Tonight's troubling story is a toss up between Sheridan not minding if Rovers win the league and that Bohs may still win the league.

Rest easy Reiteoir, there's more battles to be won. But as for actually blaming a delay for the top scorer in the league taking the worst penalty at the car-park end in Tallaght (and it has seen very bad ones) is not a troubling story.
    The Model Club

Tell all the Bohs you know
that we've gone and won two-in-a-row
and it's not gonna be three
and it's not gonna be four
it's more likely to be 5-1.

Typical tunnel vision to expect on here. One person acts like a knob then suddenlly all the supporters are tainted with the same brush

6,000 people at a LOI game in Tallaght for the first time ever. I would say that more than half were there for the first time as well, so I'm sure that some of those idiots thought that they were in Football Factory or whatever....

The culprits will be caught and civialisation will continue on again, no biggy.

If you get that many people into ground together the chances of their being an idiot in the middle of it is increased. It was unfortunate and you'd hope Rovers would ban the moron, but while it's right to condemn the incident, trying to take the high moral ground when every premier club has a skeleton like this in their closet is laughable.

Shame it happened in a big televised game though.

Last night was a terrific night at Tallaght. Full stadium, electric athmosphere, edgy match and a dramatic finish.

As for the plonker who threw the bottle at the match official, when we realised what had happened, every fan I could see were appalled and said so.

We have a great noisy, family friendly athmosphere at every game in Tallaght and we're not going to let the plonker ruin it.

Lads. Hate to say it but there is a scumbag element supporting Rovers. That genuine Rovers fans wont' accept this is the sad part. what right has one idiot to assault an official? if he did the same on a street he'd be arrested. what right have several dozen people to enter the field of play when a goal is scored? what right have they to break a wall in Bray that has stood minding it's own business for 25 years?

To be honest I think it was far more damaging to the image of the league that a top of the table clash consisted of such atrocious football than the act of one scumbag idiot, shameful as it was.

None, and whoever did it should be punished for it.

They're not the first team to do that and won't be the last.

They didn't break it, it collapsed. It was just pure coincidence that it was during a Rovers match it happened. Drogs and Pats fans rushed to the wall when they scored in recent matchs and it didn't fall down then. It was just coincidence that Rovers were the fans there that night, it could have been any team.

Would you mind pointing out the Rovers fans here that haven't acknowledged we have some dick heads (as does nearly every club) going to our games and the bottle thrower deserves to be banned?

Agree with this. But i also agree with one point from the OP and that is that the FAI want Rovers to win the league this year.
