Seems Pats are playing a weak team, that 8/13 on Derry looks good now

1-1 latest in the First Division too between Longford and Kildare. Philly Hughes gave Kildare the lead, leading to brown undies in Longford no doubt, but Derek Glynn's 11th of the season has Longford level. About 15 to go there.

But hey, giving how the league is going, maybe I'm just predicting the future!

Edit - 2-1 Kildare; Hughes with his second of the night. Great signing for them. Brings them to within seven points at the bottom if they can hold on. Games are running out, but tonight's a must win for them.

Harsh on Derry. Though if they can't beat Pats at home, then maybe you're right...

Does any one care about this competition anymore, weakened teams, poor crowds, no publicity around the games. Just the same teams playing each other again.

Except for first timers Bohs, Cliftonville and Sligo.

3 new teams in a 9 team competition is good.

Please be more specific as that sounds remarkably like the view many would have of the League of Ireland
the SETANTA Cup has become a bit predictable with many of the "usual suspects" turning up each year. the shenanagans around ths years competition has certainly not helped matters (especially the two season structure). I still think an All Ireland model is the best option going forward but (as many other threads have shown) there is still a lot of work to be done on what the structure would look like.

It was a weird atmosphere last night. Felt a bit like a friendly or something.

Pretty desperate game of football really, played in front of an awful crowd. Couldn't have been more than 1,500 last night.

There does seem to be a lot more apathy this season for the Setanta Cup. Granted, the Linfield matches will change that for us.
Have you ever won the treble?

The competitions may be different but that was our 5th time to play Cork this season, and we still have to play them in the League and Setanta again.
Manager: Fergal, have you your boots with ya?
Fergal: Ya, I have them here.
Manager: Ah good stuff, well give them to this man so, he forgot his!
