Match against Mayfield should have been called off earlier rather than waiting for the ref..
I disagree that a ref should get paid even if he calls off the match.
It just giving them incentives to call off the match in my opinion.

Sorry Nutter have to disagree with you there. I think the ref deserves his half fee he gets just for showing up and its only half the fee. I think most refs would rather not have to travel to the pitch and call the game off for the sake of 26euro.

Tis easy enough to drive across the City, have a look at the pitch and say "Its off"
Theres no ref travelling major distances.
An easy 26 notes in my book.

I know for a fact the referee had no intention of going ahead with the match when he arrived into the changing rooms shaking his head. All he wanted to do was call the game off and get his money.

Both ourselves and mayfield were happy to go ahead with match, the only issue was the wind.

I think most refs would travel to the pitch and call the game off for an easy 26euro. Just gives them more incentive!

I think its very harsh to say most refs would call a game off for 26euro. Theres only the odd few who would do that in my opinon. Some people on here have refs made out to be money hungry robbers who dont give a hoot about football and do it to have control and can only see money signs. I know most refs and i know a few personally and they cant wait to see what games they have for the weekend ahead cause they love referering games and have played top level football themselves so they know what a game of ball means to us. So i think its wrong to say most refs would call a game for a few bob.

Mayfield utd 4 blarney utd 0
mayfield bossed the game from start to finish.Could have been more only for the Blarney keeper pulling off some great saves.dont know the names but numbers 9,8,7 & 2 for mayfield stood last night. mayfield look a different team from the last time i watched them.Very surprised that blarney didnt put up a better game to Mayfield.good game even in such a wet night.

    OT squad

    any news on the squad.
I would say the manager has more to select from now. With players from douglas hall/rockmount/mayfield/everton/ucc all playing well lately.
douglas forwards banging in goals.Rockmount & mayfield have the best defence so far.

well a OT manager should pick from all teams not just his own
some very good exp and young players out there to pick a very good squad.
the MSL should look at this when picking the OT manager and maybe a manager with no club ties or a former player with years of exp.
Now you know why players dont want to play for the OT when its all rockmount all the time

i understand your point abt picking a mix bunch of players and i agree with it but last year ONE player from rockmount was involved and the year before there was three. so its not all rockmount all the time.

    Jnr League

Mayfields game versus Avondale abandoned due to Goalposts moving from very strong winds up in mayfield Park on saturday afternoon.
It must be Avondales first clean sheet so far this season . Game will have to be replayed.Avondales only chance of getting a point all season.....
looks like we will have a long season with all these games being called off.....

If the poor weather keeps up I reckon the majority of games could be moved to CIT just so that they get played on time.

from what i heard the pitch was fine but the goalposts moved as they were not locked in to the ground.Ref called it off as it might hit someone, easy cop out by ref from all acounts. could have fixed the goalposts and played on easy money for refs as they still get paid and now a replay of fixture....

conditions were very poor up in mayfield. only one or two chances in the whole half.no side deserved to be winnin at the break. ref was very quick in blowing up and abandoning game. at the end of the day, he still got paid and got to leave early. ground was very soggy so it shouldnt of even went ahead to be honest.

Yes it was played on the all weather and the ground was soggy in areas. In areas there was very little bounce on the ball. If you ask any of the Mayfield juniors who were playing, then im sure they'll agree.

There was meant to be a match on after... I'd like to know if that went ahead???
Then it would back up the statement that the ref got any easy pay day and was very quick in calling it off

Report in the echo tonight will back up my statement on the condition of the pitch. i myself didnt think it could be possibly get water logged but we are having horrendous weather as we all know so anything is possible. Are Barry Triggs and Pat O'Leary playing senior this year?
