    Euro 2012

    I know this is way early,but is it in the 2012 comp that there are gonna be more spots for qualification,thus giving us a great cance of making it through for the 1st time in ages???

    Again sorry for earlyness of the question in the middle of WC2010 qualifiers
    Only another 9 titles till Drogheda become pride of county louth!!!

    cant remember, is it not 2016 when top 2 out of the groups go through.

    Yep the 2 lads are right. It will be increased to 24 teams from 2016 onwards. I remember reading on another thread somebody suggesting qualification may still be nearly as difficult and his reasons made sense. I'll try to locate it.

    I can't find it. It's not on the actual threads about the specific topic, probably in some Ireland thread. Basically it was suggested that the number of qualifying groups would be increased and there were just less rubbish teams in each group, but for Ireland (and 3rd seeds in general) the sample groups looked just as difficult as they have in the past couple of campaigns ie. two teams that are seeded higher. Having said that 8 extra places is what it is and somebody has to benefit from it.
