-The way someone always starts a thread about what number item the LOI is on the news. (both radio and tv)

    -The financial woes!

-The pointless threads about lack of exposure and all the problems in the league

-No more Cobh Ramblers........coming soon summer 2010 CORK RAMBLERS, you heard it hear first!
    LESS OF THE BULL NOW!

The case for me is Rugby and the bandwagon that is Munster.

There is a big football following in this country , just look at the number of Junoir clubs and up in this country and ask yourself why this is not being tapped into. I stick by my point that there are elitists following LOI clubs who are disingenous to other football fans in this country. Even the term "barstooler" is derogatory to peolpe who are just as knowledgeable of football but choose to get there football fix from someone who provides a better product. LOI supporters and LOI clubs need to accept that it is far from providing that product and for some have the modesty to acknowledge this in their words and actions.

Just to add I am not a "barstooler", I do attend LOI games , when I get time, primarily Sligo Rovers and Limerick games , both clubs with an elitist attitude among some of their fans.
My football fix is mostly got from my local junior league which year by year is improving in all aspects and whose attendances are growing.
the barstoolers in my school have a lot of reasons for not supporting irish teams, 'elitism' isn't one of them.

the reason attendances are so bad in ireland is that there is either no culture of football in the country or football culture has been lost somewhere down the line. i think the experience of attending a game week in week out is alien to a lot of people including even people like me who would consider myself pretty much a big fan of bohemians(i really should chance my aviator)

As was stated before, using the elitist excuse is just an excuse. You won't find many swayed from going to most places because there might be stuck up people there, so I can't see why LOI games would be any different. I can't say I've ever seen anyone given abuse at a game for being a barstooler or anything like that, because purely by being there, they're kind of shaking off that tag.

As for the question title, I like the LOI.
Lets redefine what it means to heal

The standard of tea and coffee is shockingly bad in the league.

I'll tell you another thing I hate, those pathetic saps who disappear into the pub/bar five minutes before half-time and don't reappear until fifteen minutes into the second half. Stay off it for a couple of hours, ffs.

I love everything about this banana republic league.
Its shoddy and cheap but I love it.
    The Bundoran of footballing experiences.

As for the eletist remark, that is just an absolute bullcrap cop out.
And yes LOI fans are better than barstoolers, in a footballing supporter sense.
All this talk of the commercial product etc, is exactly why we are better than barstoolers (in a footballing supporter sense of the word).
But anyways I like that it is not a hobby horse for bandwagoner event sluts, its our thing.

I know i'm not a Sligo fan but can I complain about the standard of refereeing too?

I must say the standard of viewing improved vastly in Finn Park last night with 2 fine scantly clad females were walking around the ground with low cut .......................... ah damn it I got drule all over my laptop again.
Let's just say the half time entertainment kept the male population of FP very amused.

Is that not a problem more with the forum than the league

The undying pessimism (coupled with seemingly no will to change things) that a lot of the fans spew.

'Oh, the club needs more money. Need to get more people in the gate.'

Yes, well a fat lot of good it'll do complaining to me that people aren't coming and I sitting in the bloody stands!!

    ---

Apart from that I love the league

That there is no LOI magazine.

Kids (and adults) who wear Man U etc jersies at LOI games

Fans who chant with put-on English accents

When games are switched to avoid clashing with GAA/rugby games
Nobody knows us, we don't care

    Refs.

The PI** POOR standard of refs and the fact that linesmen dont help them out with decisions which they have seen.

The Cynicalism of most teams-go a goal up and then fall at every opportunity and lie there for 5 mins.I know it goes on in every league but in the LOI its so blatant.

How Alan Kelly is considered the best Ref.

    Summer football-there i said it.

    Overall i love this league.KEEP THE FAITH.It will grow(eventually).

As a Harps fan, you won't be encountering problems at those grounds for while yet.
