Does anyone have the full list of teams who will compete in 1B this year, it seems there is a lot of county teams this year.

Speaking as one of last season's Coonagh set-up, what happened is basically this:

    1) Last season's manager ("LarryWhite") decided he was stepping down and wouldn't be managing the side next season

    2) A new manager, Ronan Madden, has come in and told us that he has 16 or 17 new players that will sign for him, and that if the remaining players want to get their own manager and play as a separate side, that's fine by him

Basically, reading between the lines, he doesn't seem to want any of last year's panel around. That's fine, that's his prerogative, but the club will be the loser in the long run ...

We can give you a trial at the weekend if you like. At your age it'll probably be pay as you play though.
I'll see you on saturday week

He played with Coonagh B. All players are young guys. Not your usual Coonagh players. Good luck to them. Think there is one Coonagh resident.

If I remember correctly, Ronan was in and around the Coonagh B team set-up in 2007-2008. Coonagh didn't field a B team in 2008-2009, so I don't know what he did last year.

A lot of these new players seem to be 17/18/19 year olds who are 10 years younger than most of the existing Coonagh players. Some of them are handy enough too.

Ideally, the club would have tried to blend old and new as last year's team was undoubtedly pushing on, but Ronan may have thrown the baby out with the bathwater by dumping 9 or 10 good, experienced players overboard ...

Would you of really played for him? He don't strike me as manager material!

To be honest, I probably wouldn't, especially if all of ye had gone. What would have been ideal would be to keep last year's squad together, and then add in a Shane Fahy, a Boss, a Barry Dwane, a Ralph Marsh, get Jay properly fit etc

Then we would have had a proper team that would give any team in 1B a proper game ...

True but thats what happens when your club dont care about the junior set up. Our attendances were always the manager and the sub.

You are right. There is no point in crying over spilt milk.

Anyway, I hope the season goes well for you and the boys across town. The thought of you - especially - playing for anybody else but Coonagh just seems wrong

You can play one half with us and decide which jersey goes better with your boots. I'd say they might clash with the other one. You'd never last a season in those conditions!

If they keep the same team as last season and most don't go to the A team i'd put them down as one of the top teams in this divsion.

Very good, real contendrs so! having experinced a couple of the leagues, this 1 is always very hard to call!! Always have a number of teams challenging. Wheres it gonna be won and lost this year, presume the same as every year, gettin a settled team and gettin them to behave themselvs!
