If it's Monday - it must be European Draws Day...

Best of luck to all our representative clubs in the various draws for the Champions League and Europa League this lunchtime - here's hoping for a few good games...

Balls racked up for first draw

The long road to the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League final begins on Monday as the draws for the first two qualifying rounds of the competition are held in Nyon, with 36 teams ready to embark on a new adventure.

    First four champions
The first qualifying round features the champions of Malta, Montenegro, Andorra and San Marino – Hibernians FC, FK Mogren, UE Sant Julià and SP Tre Fiori respectively – with two-legged ties to be staged on 30 June/1 July and 7/8 July. Mogren and Sant Julià will be seeded in the 12.00CET draw in accordance with the club rankings established at the beginning of the season. Slots for the winners of those two matches will be set aside in the second qualifying round draw, with fixtures to be played on 14/15 and 21/22 July.

    Draw procedure
Once more, the draw will be made up equal numbers of seeded and unseeded sides, with the winners of the 17 ties progressing to the third qualifying round – with the draw to be held at UEFA headquarters on 17 July at 12.00CET. Seeds for this section include FC København, PFC Levski Sofia and FK Partizan. As with the first qualifying round draw, balls containing the seeded clubs will be placed in one bowl, with balls of the unseeded clubs placed in another. A ball will be taken from each bowl and placed in a large empty bowl in the middle, where they will be shuffled. The first team drawn will play its first match at home, against the second team drawn.

    Final date
This season's UEFA Champions League final will be played at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in Madrid on 22 May 2010.

Europa League 2nd Qualifying Round Draw

***Unseeded teams in the 1st qualifying round that qualify for the next round take effectively the coefficient of their opponent in the next round. The reason for this is that the draw for the 2nd qualifying round is made before the results of the 1st qualifying round are known.

Below it is assumed that seeded teams of the 1st qualifying round qualify for the 2nd qualifying round.***

Good luck to the 3 representatives in Europe, (Pats, Derry, and Sligo) and that they maintain the country co-efficient as high as it currently is.

They aleady are. new rules sees teams gain points for the round they exit at, so Pats and Derry have already earned points for the league

Which is just as well as I'm dreading this draw. fingers crossed for Wales/NI

Been looking forward to this for so long, it feels like it's come around so quick in the end up. Hope we get a favourable draw tomorrow morning. It will be tough either way. Good luck to all teams.
Life without Rovers, it makes no sense...it's a heartache...nothing but a fools game. S.R.F.C.

Good luck to all our clubs involved. Hopefully Rovers will get a good draw, an away trip to Wales would be nice!!
The fight is won or lost far away from witnesses - behind the lines, in the gym, and out there on the road, long before I dance under those lights.

I reckon we've at least 4 opportunities to go to a disputed region with a recent history of armed conflict.

Unless we draw Crusaders and have to go to Lurgan in the middle of July.

I'd rather dance down Bobby Sands Boulevard in Tehran wearing a Down With The Clerics T-shirt.

If you were paying attention in the other thread you'd know that not true. They have already earned club points, which previously could only be achieved by getting to the first round proper of the uefa cup.

The country co-efficient is still results based.

Looks around for ucd fan to back this up.

This new system will start to benefit teams like linfield and glentoran, in a few years time. And may eventually see them seeded despite poor results.
