One of his Irish teammates mentioned him having pace alright, think it was Judge. I would have assumed otherwise giving his body shape. Jordan Rhodes is exactly who I thought of when I saw a few clips of Hogan's goals.

Is he that special ? The standard in the Championship isn't that high. Look at Jordan Rhodes - can score for fun in that league but can't get in the Boro side in the EPL. The latter lacks pace - perhaps that is what Hogan has. Haven't been monitoring his goals so not so sure what is so special about him.

I watched him in Brentford's game against Norwich and, alone up front in a team who appear to simply set out not to lose, rather than try to win, I was hugely impressed that he'd managed to score so many as I can only deduce that when the lad gets half a chance he generally must put it away.

That's my one match scouting report. In that game he did get a chance towards the end and only great goalkeeping kept him from scoring. I don't think he'll single handedly propel us to the level of tournament winners but if he's interested I'd have him around.

My gut is for sale in this case. I accept his reasons (injury) to date but would prefer he showed more enthusiasm. If he declares and scores goals my gut will be happier.

Really awkward one for the gut. One can't but help feel the lad has an agent in his ear which is not helping with the humming and hawing in the slightest. Probably the same agent that is keen to broker the West Ham move, as I'm sure there is one.

3 Irish grandparents, an adulation for Roy Keane and a few Irish mates/teammates haven't had the deal sealed so far anyway.

Once the transfer window closes, regardless if he is playing for Real Madrid or Bushy Park Rovers. It's Yes or No time Scott

I can see how some people might like a little time to decide but this cannot be allowed to drag on and on .

If Scott Hogan has not felt the desire to play for us at this stage then perhaps the desire is not big enough .

If his answer is yes . Good welcome aboard .

If its no . Thanks very much for considering the proposal but we'll leave it there and the best of luck with your football career .

Its time to P*SS or get off the Pot.............

Ireland-eligible Andrew Stearman has Wolves ahead in the FA Cup against Liverpool at Anfield. His goal was a first-minute header.

I wouldn't question anyones gut and everyone is entitled to an opinion, but outside of international windows, the man has no obligation, and rightly so, to make a comment 1 way or the other. Bottle it up til then lads.

Patrick Bamford hoping to play for his country.

"Personally, in four-and-a-half years I'd love to be called up for England," Bamford said.

"That's the pinnacle of someone's career to play for the national team. But of course, I've got a lot of work to do before that. I want to help Boro go as far as they can - there's no limits.

Good interview. Accrington are keeping him at bay so far. We can check in with him in four and a half years so to see where he's at.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Aston Villa are preparing a last-minute £9 million bid for Scott Hogan: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ott-Hogan.html

Crystal Palace are also reported to be interested (along with West Ham, whose interest is already well documented).

Actually, just seeing that the Daily Star says Sky Sports have been reporting that West Ham have pulled out of the chase for Hogan's signature as Slaven Bilic is no longer keen on him: http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/foo...rs-gossip-news

The Sun today revealed Brentford's bizarre demands were holding up Hogan's move to the Hammers.

The Bees reportedly wanted a £1m Premier League title payout inserted into Hogan's contract if he left the club.
West Brom are said to be keen though, along with Villa and Palace.

Villa are favourites according to Sky Sources. I would have thought Hogan would prefer a PL move though. Brentford host Villa tonight coincidentally.

Bottle up our guts ? Hmmm, not a pretty picture. No obligation of course but at 24 you would have a fair idea of which way your loyalties lie. By and large, when there is hesitation, it means there will be a declaration for England on the way, but hopefully my bottled gut is wrong.
Forget about the performance or entertainment. It's only the result that matters.

Scott Hogan is doing a medical with Villa as we speak, staying in the championship will mean he is slightly more likely to declare for us

What is it, a month and a half since he was supposed to have a meeting with O'Neill?

You can't blame the transfer window because it was supposed to happen before transfer window opened.

And he hasn't played for his team in four weeks so I'm sure he could have found the time to call or text O'Neill.
