Drogs star itching to get going
Connor Kenna has informed setanta.com that the chance to play Premier Division football with Drogheda United was too good to turn down. The athletic centre-back spurned offers from Sporting Fingal and UCD to remain in the top tier of League of Ireland football by signing on with Drogheda.
It didn't take long for the 24-year-old to make up his mind after he spoke with manager Alan Matthews and was convinced by what the club wanted to achieve. While he has only penned a one-year deal, Kenna knows that if things go well for the County Louth team this season then he could be part of a new long-term project that will transform the club. The first game of the season comes on March 6 when Drogheda travel up to The Brandywell to face Derry City and that is something that the young defender cannot wait for.
