    West Ham interested in Fahey!

    Hammers weigh up Fahey move

Barclays Premier League side West Ham United will monitor the form of St Patrick’s Athletic star Keith Fahey in this week’s FAI Ford Cup semi-final.

Saints take on newly-crowned eircom League of Ireland champions Bohemians in an eagerly awaited Dublin derby at Richmond Park. And Fahey – a leading contender for Player of the Year honours, despite Saints’ nearly-men status this season – is set to be watched by West Ham representatives, according to a report in Wednesday’s Irish Sun. The report claims that Hammers boss Gianfranco Zola was impressed by Fahey during the recent two-legged Uefa Cup defeat to Bundesliga big guns Hertha Berlin, when the former Republic of Ireland youth international was seen by many to outshine the Germans’ multi-million-euro talents.

Fahey, who turns 26 in January, has already had one stint in England: he was on the books of Arsenal and Aston Villa before returning to Ireland in 2003, making one appearance for Villa in an Intertoto Cup game against Lille OSC in 2002.

Keith is the best player of the league. I think there are actually no two opinions about this fact. So his way is going to England now. He must take this way if he want get a chance in the nationalteam. He is actually a good player, but to be a great player he must playing on the highest level as possible - and that's just the EPL!

fahey is a very good player but i reckon if he goes to a PL team he will just waste away in the reserves or at best the bench. As good as he is it would take a fair bit for him to force his way into the first team. Id prefer him maybe to go to a champs team and get a regular start. Of course id sooner he didnt go atal.

Yeah, you'd have to ask if he can force his way past the likes of Mark Noble and Scott Parker. However, WH may be looking to cash in on some of these players if rumours are to be believed, and could look for cheaper options such as Fahey.

Well nothing will happen until January at the earliest

There have been no comments from officials of any clubs so read all speculation with a pinch of salt...
