    1066 - 2006

950 years ago exactly, on the 10th February 1066, a gallant brigade of men and women arrived in the south of England and went on the rampage. Their wild ways were a culture shock to the locals, who surrendered meekly.

On Friday 10th February 2006 a gallant brigade of men and women will arrive in the south of England, near the ancient town of Wycombe, which was pillaged by the Normans and has just been rebuilt.

In 1066, they came by sea. In 2006 they will come down from a great bird in the sky, and emerge shouting and roaring like the warriors of old. They will wear the colour maroon and babble incoherently. They will leave a trail of destruction in their wake, and unpaid hotel bills.

The Tribal Army is on the march !

The initial landing was on the 10th February 1056.
However the Normans failed to provide the required
European Invasion Licence to the Saxons and
had to lodge an appeal to the Court of First Instance
in Bologna. It transpired that they had a "B" Licence
    which allowed domestic invasions only.

To complicate matters, William the Conquerors secretary,
an inbred yokel who couldn't read or write, but who had invented
a prototype for the modern tractor and learned to drive it, had sent
the application for the Licence to the wrong address in Bologna.

The second landing went ahead in 1066, when the Court decided to
    hand out licences to everyone.

    2 Excellent posts, PD.
I now only hope we can go to Wycombe and make you proud of us.
As we are going to be without our great leader I will take it upon myself to reiterate your great parable as we descend from the sky tomorrow evening

PD, just pasted a copy of your original post in the GUFC forum on Soundercentral.com, thought everyone in the ECS would get a kick out of it.

PM Galwaygirl, she'll give you a contact number, you get the train up, and get p*ssed before the match with the rest of them.

    Classic !!
The SFAI are the governing body for grassroots football in Ireland, not the FAI. Its success or the lack of is all down to them.
