Yeah, you make a good point, we've by far the lowest support in the league, just look at the facts:

    Bohs 2340
    Cork 4033
    Derry 1780
    Drogheda 1554
    Dublin City 592
    Longford 1131
    Pat's 1882
    Rovers 1466
    Shels 2079
    Waterford 1753

But, wait, they don't agree with the Cork point of view. Must be fake.

I've no idea how many where there since we were allocated only a small part of the stand and the rest of the support was completley mixed in with the Pats support in the other sections of the ground. You also have no idea how many were there.
Not true. Richmond was segregated for that match - as usual, that means a thrird of the stand for away fans (it holds 1800 so that's 600 Shels), behind the turnstile end and on the upper Camac. We had the other two thirds of the stand, the Shed and the lower Camac. I couldn't see the upper Camac cos of the TV gantry being in the way but I know a section of it was cordoned off as a no-man's land.

Well it can't have been segregated too well as there were Shels fans in the Pats support in the Carmac. I heard some even went to the Shed, for a while at least, not sure though you can't make out what's going on behind the hoolie fence.

Notice how every club who had last season average, their attendances have all gone down.

I think that's due to an effort being made to try and keep the guesstimates as conservative as possible rather than attendences falling across the board.

That's the only thing worth considering. NONE of us are in any position to start cliaiming the high ground re attendances (and I include Cork in that).

    Pineapple Stu?

For the Derry ones? The Cork and Waterford ones I assumed are the rearranged ones

    Cork game 1,400
    Waterford 1,000

Ah come on now, Cork have a bit of a right, they're almost double the nearest rival.

There weren't four and a half Premier Division clubs in Cork last season. Granted they're better than anyone else but 4000 is nothing to crow about either.

There's 200,000 people in cork, so if 4000 go to the cross every two weeks that's 2% of the population - assume an average of 2,000 for the 4 "big' dub teams (bit more for us and shels, less for pat's and rovers) and, charitably, 1000 for DC or UCD that gives 9,000 from a population of a million - less than 1%.

What about all those from county Cork that go to Turner's Cross?
I know of one Cork City fan who lives in Clonmel.
Not to mention the Bohs/Rovers/Pat's/College/ Dublin City /Shels fans who reside in Counties Meath, Kildare and Wicklow?

Yeah I know - sizeable numbers of Bohs fans live in Meath; still works though if you take Cork's catchment area as Co. Cork and South Tipp. and the Dublin teams as the Pale say 350, 000 in 'greater Cork' 1.5m in Greater Dublin; proportions still roughly the same - although I suppose this makes Bray and even Drogheda 'Dublin' teams.....

3500 at Shels v. Waterford according to their forum. Apparently Harps-Dundalk was nearer 4000 than 5000, so have put it in at 4200. Athlone-Galway 150; Galway-Harps 600; Galway-Monaghan 300 from this post. Which leaves us at...

On this logic, there are 3,000 people living in Ballybofey, there was a 'reported' 5,000 at the Dundalk match. Work out the percentage on that one!

Great work on thread all season compiling the figures.

Just one thing to note though. As far as I know the only team who actually publish their attendances are Bohs and their average in only down 300 in what was a very poor season by their standards.

We should bear in mind that attendances are understated so maybe the actual reduction isn't as bad as it looks.
