Another mod's rhetorical question Why is such blatant trolling tolerated though? End another mod's bit
(Sorry Dodge, had to ask. Would welcome some enlightenment.)

No. I never said that so don't be dragging off into that debate.
What i am saying is that you have better chance of an Ireland cap if you have dual nationality. i.e. you will get just to ensure you can't declare for anyone else. Is that fair on single nationality players?
should we lose 2 more qualification games i say out with the dead wood and in with the likes of long, stokes, clarke, garvan etc. no use in giving kilbane and others games for the sake of it. although in saying this there is a serious arguement for getting long in particuler in the squad post haste. stokes is playing SPL football at the moment, and while it is by no means the premiership, if he grabs his chance against 60,000 at celtic park i dont see why he couldnt play against san marino and the likes. the same applies for garvan-a quality championship player and the fact is that san marino would easily be relegated from both the SPL and the premiership. in conclusion get long in as soon as possible
Given that Owen Garvan can't get out of bed unassisted at the moment I think playing him against San Marino mightn't be wise.
I think we only had for forwards in the Germany squad. There's definitely room for a 5th and Long's claim to that place is as good as anyone else's really.
Firstly - Fair enough, just asking the question, happy to accept that's not the road you were going down. It's easy to mis-interpret stuff like that.
I don't agree with the Dual-nationality argument though, the only one who could be considered is Dixon and since he was brought on for the U21's in a competive game he's comitted now. It's a dangerous game trying to second guess what's going on in Stan's brain (I'm not even sure he knows himself!) but him saying he would have played in the Holland game was made after a 4-0 hiding when he could easily have been trying to deflect the scrutiny away from how bad we were that night. He said he called him in to the squad originally as a 'reward' for his performances with the U17's but has since changed his tune.
There's plenty of dual nationality players who've made noises about playing for Ireland Kevin Gallen being one, who were told where to go.
Have they actually diagnosed anything with Garvan yet? Must be very worrying and frustrating if they haven't.
Post Viral Syndrome or whatever it's called. Basically he's got no energy, like having ME or glandular fever I think.
My mate had that, he was f'cked for months, couldn't go to work or anything, just confined to the bed.
I'd say that could well be end of season for him....by the time he recovers he'll need another couple of months to get match fit.
Lads Shane Long is suspended for 5 International games so he cant be called up for any squad. As for Anthony Stokes he was useless in Irelands last u21 game in Terryland and has areal big time charlie ego despite plying his trade with Falkirk. Some of the postings on this thread are inane to say the least.
the 11-a-side article dated 3rd September says Long has 2 games of his ban left. If the interview was before the game in Galway that'd mean he's got one game left, meaning he could be in the Czech squad. But it looks like he's ineligible until San Marino.
so why slam people for not picking him?
Personally, subject to injuries and availibility to others, I wouldn't pick him yet even if he was eligable. No more than I'd pick Dixon or Alan O' Brien either.... But that's just me.
with Elliott out get him in!
I'd rather the claims of at least 5 strikers ahead of him at the moment
He would be better served by a few U21 games as wouldn't be used in a senior qualifier.
the lad Long looks to be involved in reading's game in the carling cup, good luck to him.
yikes but it's darlo who have over half the possession and have led twice. lita with two equalizers for reading.
