    Sportslink Ailesbury 3rds 1 - 1 Terenure FC 3rds

A really tough test out in Sportslink and after a good first half we were eventually fairly glad to leave with a point. With a strong wind behind and continuing our high tempo game from the weekend we had most of the pressure in the first half. Sportslink did go close in the first minute but otherwise didnít threaten until they opened the scoring against the run of play. The ball fell kindly for their forward and he finished well.

Our response was excellent and David Fennelly, who again got through a massive amount of work, scored a superb equaliser 5 minutes before half time. It was no more than we deserved and had we made more of a number of dangerous set pieces we might well have been in front at the break.

The second half turned into a very scrappy affair. The huge work rate that was carried over from the weekend started to take itís toll and we lacked a bit of energy and got slightly sloppy in possession. This made it hard to work the ball upfield and we failed to hold it up for long enough when we did force ílink back.

Despite having a fair amount of pressure Ďlink didnít create clear cut chances as we defended strongly and despite not creating too much at the other end we held out for a very good point. Away points at this difficult early stage of the season will be crucial come the end and we can be fairly please with a return of 4 points out of 6.
