    1. UEFA

The fixture meeting for the Euro2012 Group B fixtures got underway in Moscow today, an event which seems to have been completely ignored by the Irish media.

Whilst most sections of the media are wetting themselves over Cheltenham, Beckham’s tendon or indeed the upcoming Champions League ties, surely the media deserved some mention?t may not seem important, but for some of us the date will define a number of holidays for the next two years.

The meeting wraps up tomorrow, and if the sides can’t agree on a set of fixtures then UEFA take control of the situation. This has already occurred in one other group, and it is believed that if a resolution can’t be reached the fixture will be announced at a UEFA Congress in Tel Aviv next week.

    Sidney Bedlow Cup
    13/03/2010
    Glasnaoin 2nds 3 –2 Terenure 4ths

Terenure 4ths were knocked out of the Sidney Bedlow cup on Saturday and a bad weekend was made worse as wins for Allenton and VEC saw them drop to third in the league. Playing for only the fourth time since October, and exactly a month since their last game, Terenure were sluggish out of the blocks and saw very little of the ball in the early stages as Glasnaoin played with pace and quality, which was rewarded about 10 minutes into the game as they broke through the Terenure defence and were awarded a penalty, which was scored and gave them a deserved lead.

Is there a better feeling than leaving work early on a Friday? Leaving work early to get a game. This week it was a trip acroos the country to Jackman Park in Limerick City.

As always, the slog was getting out of Dublin and I nearly collided with the Rainey High School hockey team on the Naas Road when they decided to take evasive manoeuvres across a couple of lanes for no apparent reason.

Having cleared the traffic by Rathcoole it was a fairly easy drive cross country on the ever improving M7. Hindered of course by drivers who believe that the fast lane should be a place of residence, even if you are only doing 65mph.
