UCFL Div. 3 25 August 2012 Chapelizod 7-3 Terenure 3rds Some of my fears certainly came to pass on Saturday as there was a last minute scramble to make sure we had eleven players and some of the new lads had only been up to one or two trainings so the warm-up was spent trying to learn each other’s names. Not having a proper goalkeeper is going to be a big issue for the season if we can't locate one somewhere and the duties were shared by Padge in the first half ...
With the league due to start tomorrow there’s a disquieting air of uncertainty around the future of Terenure 3rds. This will by my sixth season with the club and most of the previous five have centred on the same squad, there has always been a core of reliable old heads that could be counted on every week and you could take the field knowing that every game would at least produce a battling performance. This season though, there has been a sea change, many of the old heads have moved to the new ...
As Terenure FC continues to grow we start looking ahead to another new season in the UCFL. The club requires players, particularly goalkeepers, coaches and managers for the coming season. There is likely to be 4 mens teams and an over 35's team, spread from the top division down, so players of all abilities are welcome to join. Summer training will take place in Bushy Park, Terenure, starting on Tuesday 10th of July at 6.30pm and will continue on Tuesday and Thursday ...
UCFL Div. 3 19 May 2012 Terenure FC 3rds 0 – 3 Glasnaoin 2nds UCFL Div. 3 23 May 2012 Terenure FC 3rds 1 – 2 Phoenix Athletic I was gutted to miss our last two games of the season, having to attend a communion on the Saturday and then getting a tooth out on Wednesday, and unfortunately neither game went well. Glasnaoin were playing for a possible 2nd place finish in the first game and from what I’m told they were well deserving ...
UCFL Div. 3 16 May 2012 AFC Justice 5 – 0 Terenure FC 3rds Five games in eleven days would be a test for any professional side and it certainly proved a test too many for us on Wednesday evening. AFC Justice came in to the game fresh, after a few weeks without a game, and had a full squad of players available. We just about scraped together eleven players and most were tired or carrying knocks from the hectic schedule of games. Having said that ...
UCFL Div. 3 14 May 2012 Terenure FC 3rds 2 - 3 Grant City If I’m looking at things positively I suppose I can say we’ve been entertaining in our last few games, going down 3-2 on Wednesday, a 3-3 draw on Saturday and another 3-2 loss on Monday. As with most games this season we started slowly against Grant, they’re a big, physical, team and we played into their hands with rushed panicky play, never getting the ball down on the grass. As the half progressed we ...
UCFL Div. 3 Shield 09 May 2012 Arthur Griffith Park 2nds 3 - 2 Terenure FC 3rds This was a game that pretty much summed up our season. Hopes were high coming in, things were looking positive half way through, but inevitably we didn’t push on, missed a few chances and were left disappointed. The game started fairly cagily with neither side really dominating. AGP were making better use of the ball but our defense was comfortable enough and at time ...
UCFL Div. 3 21 April 2012 Terenure FC 3rds 1 - 0 Siemens Before I get to our shield hopes, there's another league game to catch up on. Title chasing Siemens paid a visit to Bushy Park in another game I missed through injury and were sent home with nothing but a huge blow to their chances of winning the league. Padraig Conlon was the goal scoring hero, and from what I'm told the defence put in a tremendous display. The win was a good boost to the teams confidence ...
UCFL Div. 3 Shield 11 April 2012 Dollymount FC 2 – 3 Terenure FC 3rds Still out with injury I declined the midweek trip to one of my least favourite football pitches and thankfully my absence brought the lads some luck. Dollymount have been a constant thorn in our side since we landed in division 3 and this was a first win over them at the fifth attempt. Manager/Goalkeeper Niall McCall saved a penalty at a key stage of the game that probably went a long way ...

I was glad the blog was unavailable for the last while because it meant I could put off writing a report on our last couple of games. Our recent good run has come to a crashing halt and we've left ourselves with little to play for until the end of the season. UCFL Div. 3 24 March 2012 Terenure FC 3rds 3 – 6 Arthur Griffith Park FC 2nds In the weeks before this game I was talking about the huge difference a settled back four has made to us and ...
