From the FHFC programme for the league game against Cork City.
Last weekend was not a good one to be a Harps fan. Apart from being heavily beaten in Waterford, our beloved neighbours regained the initiative at the top of the division as they won easily and Monaghan were beaten in Cork. And then of course there was the nightmare in the Aviva Stadium. As these things go, the train did not so much come off the tracks as fell off a bridge on to a hospital
The league is a total mess. Many clubs are in crisis and overspending continues to cripple the majority of league clubs. Serious doubts exist as to whether several clubs will be able to start next season.
Forward planning is virtually non existent and some of the decisions made by clubs are quite breathtakingly stupid.
So what is the way forward? The clubs must adopt a new attitude completely. Transparency and sustainability must replace the short term pursuit of success
