    I attended the Soccerex European Forum in Manchester in April and hope to bring you a series of pieces on some of the takeways for the Irish game from the week.

  2. The Sash My Father Wore – Alex de Bruce version

    The Half-time Oranges Order Troupe (HOOT) today welcomed Northern Ireland’s newest international footballer, Alex de Bruce. A spokeswoman for the HOOT, Lady Iris Robyerson, said: “Mr de Bruce is a true Ulsterman with roots in the mainland, who has fought to free himself from the chains of serfdom that has bound him to makey-uppy countries for too long. We look forward to receiving him into our bosom, erm, football team. My Gaaawwd, but he’s a fine, fit piece of Ulster manhood.”

  3. Foot.ie Advert / Short Film Competition 2011

    This is the inaugural Foot.ie Advert / Short Film Competition and below are the entries to it. The inception of it was a bit rough and ready, with the guidelines and rules being conceived within a very short time frame. It was a good bench mark though and it should give people a good idea of what to expect every November and even give them a whole season to gather footage and content for an entry into the 2012 Competition.

    Fair play Mr Darragh Farrell, who had a response to one Jacqueline Cotter's nauseating comments printed in today's Irish Independent.

    Jacqueline originally wrote in on Monday:
