  1. (Badly) floodlight robbery in Jackman

s there a better feeling than leaving work early on a Friday? Leaving work early to get a game. This week it was a trip acroos the country to Jackman Park in Limerick City.

As always, the slog was getting out of Dublin and I nearly collided with the Rainey High School hockey team on the Naas Road when they decided to take evasive manoeuvres across a couple of lanes for no apparent reason.

Having cleared the traffic by Rathcoole it was a fairly easy drive cross country ...

  2. Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more

To most people it is just a normal Friday. To a small band of football supporters across the island, it is the first day of the season.

I can’t make the game, something which pains me more than I can even write about. Working on a project in Laois, a 7.45pm kickoff in the Brandywell and an exam at 9.30 tomorrow in Dublin meant something had to drop out and unfortunately it had to be the game.

After an off-season full of controversy (which seems to be the norm in recent seasons) for the League of Ireland, the big kick-off is finally just one week away. As a warm-up, however, the First Round of the Leinster Senior Cup has begun this week after a 10 year hiatus. Traditionally, it has been a competition that the League of Ireland clubs would not take 100% seriously, usually putting out weaker teams à la the League Cup. Nevertheless, with the first game of the 2010 Airtricity League of ...

  5. More Games Off

by on 26/02/2010 at 11:05 AM (Terenure FC 4ths - Diary of a Season)
Terenure are facing into a massive fixture backlog as last weeks top of the table clash with Allenton was postponed following the referees late arrival and the weather has seen this Saturday's fixture with VEC called off. Terenure have already played at least two games less than all of their league rivals and remain in the Sidney Bedlow Cup and the 3B shield which has yet to commence.

With the weather showing little sign of improvement Terenure could be looking at three games a week ...
